Policy & Pancakes at Liberty University this morning! As many of you know, I’m passionate about business and legislation, and today’s event was a perfect blend of both. What an incredible crowd—full of energy and ideas—and we gleaned such valuable insights as we look ahead to 2026.

A heartfelt thank you to our representatives and leaders for putting together such impactful programs.

And of course, I’ll always love my alma mater—Liberty is especially beautiful during the holiday season 🎄😍

Fully Promoted of Lynchburg, VA in the house.

What Charles Dickens Taught Me About Business Leadership

I’ve collected every adaptation of *A Christmas Carol* own them all, —it’s my favorite story (the George C. Scott version is my favorite, though A Muppet Christmas Carol is close second). But the more I revisit it, the more I realize it’s Not just about Christmas or generosity.

Scrooge wasn’t simply “stingy.” He denied himself as much as he denied others. He sat in the cold, in the dark, living without joy or pleasure. That’s very different from the kind of corporate greed we often see today—leaders who deny others but indulge themselves. Dickens’ Scrooge is a reminder that deprivation of spirit is just as damaging as deprivation of resources.

As a business professional, I’ve met my share of “Scrooges”—complicated leaders who make life difficult for those under them. Sadly I still carry the scars from them..but unlike Scrooge, many of them don’t lack comfort; they lack empathy. That distinction matters.

For me, marketing and business isn’t about squeezing the most out of clients or teams. It’s about doing right by them, building trust, and creating value that lasts, community. I’m grateful I stepped away from the rigid 9-to-5 grind, because it allows me to focus on relationships instead of transactions.

Dickens’ story reminds us: transformation is possible. Even the hardest leaders can change when they realize that denying joy—whether to themselves or others—leads nowhere.

"What a way to start a birthday! I had the privilege of speaking this morning at 7:30 a. m to a wonderful group of fellow conservatives about one of the nonprofit organizations close to my heart, Wreaths Across America 2025. "The Breakfast Club- Lynchburg " meets every Wednesday 7:30 a. m to 8:30 at Jordan Baptist church, Lynchburg. They celebrate Freedom, food, fun, fellowship and facts visit them on Facebook.

There’s nothing I enjoy more than talking about subjects I’m passionate about. Not only did I get to share the mission of this important organization, but I also spoke about the historic Old City Cemetery here where the annual ceremony will be held Saturday December 13th at noon.
Connecting with fellow community members and highlighting causes that matter truly made my day special.
Oh and they were kind enough to sing to me too.
Thank you for the wreath donations! Www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/VA1076

🚀 Happy National Entrepreneurs’ Day!

From marketer to founder, this journey has been equal parts grit, creativity, and courage. 💡 Starting my own business taught me that entrepreneurship isn’t just about ideas — it’s about betting on yourself and building something that matters.

Here’s a picture of me in Richmond, Virginia at the Capitol during a business legislative event 2019, meeting with our senators and representatives. I got the bug to start my own business after diligently spending years fighting for others — and realized it was time to build something of my own.

Here’s to all the dreamers and doers making it happen today. 👏

✨ Supporting Local, Celebrating Women-Owned Businesses ✨

During my over five years with the Retail Merchants Association, I had the privilege of working alongside nearly 400 business owners. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for the joys, challenges, and resilience that come with running a small business.

This past weekend, I was reminded of that spirit when I had the opportunity to support two incredible women and their outstanding businesses — one in consignment and the other in vintage/antique boutique retail. Both hosted beautiful holiday open houses, and it was inspiring to see their creativity, dedication, and passion shine through.

Small businesses, especially those led by women, face unique challenges — and post-COVID, the road to rebuilding has been even more demanding. That’s why I’ve always believed in the importance of buying local, spreading the word, and showing up to support these entrepreneurs who pour their hearts into their work.

I’m grateful for the experience, excited to have started my holiday shopping, and proud to share a few photos celebrating these outstanding women and their businesses.

Here’s to continuing to uplift and support local businesses in our communities! 💙

Incredible morning at the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance’s breakfast event!

The veteran panel was truly inspiring—start to finish, it was a powerful reminder of the innovation and momentum building in our region. Huge thanks to our partners in economic development for showing up and sharing exciting updates about what’s ahead.

Gold Threads Story

In my 20 yr. marketing career - sales, promotion and events was my main job description, so with Gold Thread I decided to put that to work for businesses, organizations and individuals. Many need assistance with their company’s events, church retreats, local fundraisers and special occasions. I have found that committee leaders have great vision and good intensions but not the experience or contacts to make their event a smooth experience and top success, let Gold Thread do that for you. With a list of references and successful events we bring with us contacts to some of the best venues and contractors in our community, together we can bring your vision to life and make it shine.
