Catherine "Suzanne" Reed, 56, passed away on Saturday morning, January 3, 2026, at home in Denton, Texas, with her wife by her side. She was the wife of Jill Reed. They shared 10 beautiful years together.
Born in Balch Springs, Texas, on July 18,1969, she was the daughter of Harold and Donna Marie Reed. She graduated from Howard College in May of 2001 with an associate’s degree in applied science. She began her career in public service in 1992 as the first female firefighter/emergency medical technician for the City of Big Spring, Texas. She served the City of Big Spring, Texas, until May of 2002. She began serving the Town of Flower Mound, Texas, as a Police Officer on August 28, 2006. Since then, she was promoted to Police Sergeant in October of 2020 and to Police Lieutenant in October of 2023. She was twice awarded Police Officer of the Year for Flower Mound in 2009 and 2014. She received the State of Texas House Senate Award in 2014. She was twice awarded the Police Commendation Award for Flower Mound in 2015 and 2019 and awarded the Guardian of Justice Award by the Denton County Children’s Advocacy Center in 2020.
Away from work, she enjoyed being outdoors. She loved camping and spending time with Jill on their four-wheelers and jet skis. She enjoyed hiking in the mountains and being in nature. She will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor, her love of animals, her boundless energy and desire to stay busy, and her selflessness.
She is survived by her wife, Mrs. Jill Reed; her sister, Ms. Amy Byrd; her niece, Alyssa Thompson and her husband Connor; her nephews, Alex Byrd and Jonathan Byrd; and her pets Ellie Mae, Ruby Rose, and Nike Reed. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Donna Marie Reed, and her former partner, Pamela Jordan.
The Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Circle R Ranch, 5901 Cross Timbers Road, Flower Mound, TX 75022, on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
