It’s that time of year again in the Carolinas and across the South! Turtles and tortoises are on the move and crossing roads. If you know about us, you know we’re very big on helping them to safety whenever we encounter them!

Couple of pointers:

1) Stopping and using your hazard lights is key! But only on a good straight away! Never stop on or near a curve!

2) NEVER try to relocate them! Just help them across in the direction they are headed. At a certain age they know their area and where everything they need is located. If you move them elsewhere, you can shock them with unfamiliarity and they may die.

3) Most often they really get moving after a moderate to hard rain, so keep your eyes peeled!

4) Always sanitize your hands after handling them!

5) Spread the word! Because of roadways and development, all turtles have a hard time. But the Eastern Box Turtle seen here is classified as a ‘Vulnerable’ species because they are terrestrial and have to often traverse human infrastructure.

Thanks to all of y’all who braved the rain this weekend 💛🌧️

There’s just something special about walking in the rain 🥰. We sure needed it, and hopefully it helped with this drought we’ve been in.

And if you stop by this summer and see an unfamiliar face behind the counter, meet Abby! This weekend was her first time learning the ropes with us, and it ended up being the perfect weekend to ease in before things get busier. If you’ve been around Flat Rock, there’s a good chance you already know her 😊

School’s out for summer, it’s Memorial Day weekend, AND we finally are getting some rain!

Our Honey Creemee is made in many small batches to ensure the sweet goodness maintains it’s characteristics. It also has to be made a bit in advance for the flavor profile to develop & settle.
