Lightning arcs down from the sky striking in two spots off in the distance seen from the Resort in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, July 6th. Weather patterns over the Dominican Republic can very over the course of a day, from being bright and sunny to heavy rain or even lightning storm events with the only consistent daily weather event being the sporadic drizzle.

A green sea turtle sunbathes in the sand at Po'ipū Beach in Kaua'i, Hawai'i on Thursday, January 2, 2020. Green sea turtles can grow up to 5 feet long, 700 pounds, and are among the largest sea turtles in the world. Their life expectancy is over 80 years, but they are still on the endangered species list and populations continue to decrease. Although the turtles are listed as an endangered species, they are still victims of being hunted, over harvesting of their eggs, getting caught in fishing gear, and have their nesting grounds encroached by humans.

The Maria Wildfire burns along the mountains between Santa Paula and Somis, Calif. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019. Over 1,300 firefighters worked to contain the fire while air operations were slowed due to drone use in the area.

Seal Beach firefighter Becker, from fire station 44, hoses down burnt trees along the 23 freeway in Moorpark, California during the on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. The fire broke out shortly after 6 a.m. near the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.
