It’s not lost on me that a lot of my clients are also Mom-Preneurs.
Women who decided to go against the grain, and follow their passions all while raising a family. The women who clung to the last shred of autonomy, while simultaneously losing themselves in motherhood.
They already carried the entire load of the family, carried the children, handled the cooking, cleaning, child rearing scheduling….. And they still decided to follow that voice deep inside that just wouldn’t go away. The soft glow of an ember, buried beneath mountains of responsibilities. The one that slowly grew bigger and bigger until it couldn’t be ignored any more.
They said Yes to a random idea, when everyone said they should say No. They said “What if…” and planned for it to all work out, all while holding their breath and crossing their fingers & toes. They lost sleep, and worked in the little pockets of time between household chores, stress & worry, and children’s needs. They sacrificed themselves, because the spark inside them lit them up too much to let it go out. They learned to find a community, to build a business from scratch, to do graphic design & marketing, accounting, SEO and Web Design, Research. All by themselves, and only in the 10 minute pockets of time they were lucky to get in the day.
These clients find me, because we have all of this in common. I see myself in these images just as much as they see themselves.
We sometimes have to bring our kids along with us, and it’s never a problem.
Because we understand that we’re all just doing what we have to do. We’re getting it done, often without a village. Just a prayer, and boat loads of snacks.
Because we want our kids to see that it’s okay to chase your passions. It’s okay to say Yes to the wild crazy idea. It’s okay to follow your gut, before you understand why.
To the experienced Mom Preneurs: What's a piece of advice you have for someone just starting on their journey?
