Why?
I've always loved these birds. Not sure why there are so few in this part of Oklahoma, the desert in west Texas had a lot, and so did Kansas.
I've heard speculation that it's over hunted, bobcats, raccoons and coyotes or lack of crops, or chiggers but NE Kansas and Texas (except a lot less chiggers) had these things too. Kansas a bit colder, Texas hotter. less water...So I don't know🤷‍♂️. We have been here over 7 years and I've just seen maybe 4 or 5 single birds, no coveys.
What are your thoughts?
