So Deserving
Tonight’s Hall of Fame inductee: Enoch “ Doyle” Jeter
Enoch Doyle Jeter was born February 11, 1953 in Jena, Louisiana. He grew up in New York City, Pennsylvania, New Mexico and would eventually come back to Northeast Louisiana. Doyle had many titles over the years. Booking agent, promoter, director, teacher, artist and retired janitor at an Irish pub were just a few occupations that graced his repertoire.
In 1980, on St. Patrick’s Day, Doyle and his wife Yvette would open Enoch’s Pub and Cafe which would become synonymous with live music in and around the Northeast Louisiana music scene. Bob Dylan, Bono and Edge along with Stevie Ray Vaughn passed through Enoch’s to share a pint.
The Beatles , Bob Dylan, and Jackson Po***ck were some of Doyle’s musical influences. Other influences included the streets of New York City, the mountains of New Mexico, along with County Cork, Ireland. These influences would help Doyle and his family establish the NELA Celtic Fest and The Northeast Louisiana Music Trail. The trail is a path of markers of music industry pioneers, professionals and places that wind throughout Northeast Louisiana. Thanks to the efforts of Doyle Jeter, this trail will always show others how music made its mark in the hearts and minds of those who love it best.
