Lately, in my other creative work outside of performing, I’ve been spending time behind the lens shooting for a really special series called Mixed Tapes at The Medium in Springdale 🎶📸
It’s been such a meaningful way to reconnect with why I started photography in the first place—capturing artists in their element, across all styles and sounds.
Looking back at last year’s shows:
🎹 (Lauren Sonder) — Oct 2025
🎤 (Kyle Nelson) — Nov 2025
This year, I’ve had the chance to work with a new artist each month:
February 2026 — Joel Darling (originally from Virginia, now based in Bentonville) performed an immersive ambient set that completely transformed the space.
March 2026 — Mt. Comfort, a local indie all-woman q***r band, created something incredibly unique for their release show. For the first time, their founder and writer Sami Miller wove a short story—“The Last Words of Valencia Bray”—between each song. The narrative followed a young woman navigating hardship and cyclical struggle, with every song intentionally crafted to reflect that emotional journey. It was powerful, intentional, and deeply moving. (Written by Caulder Toland, KUXA Fayetteville)
The best part? Every artist in this series is from the NWA area, which makes it all feel close to home ❤️
If you get a chance, check out The Medium and support the local music scene.
