🎀 On Wednesdays, We Post Pink 🎀

If you’ve been following along this year, you know that Wednesdays are sacred to us. They are our weekly reminder to the incredible women who walk through our doors and support our business: Please, prioritize your health and schedule your mammogram.

Today, I’m sharing a bit of my "why" as I walk out of my own breast health appointment.

Last week, I had my first mammogram. It wasn't because of a lump or a scare, but because I am classified as high-risk due to my family history. Statistically, everyone starts with a 12.5% lifetime risk of developing breast cancer, but genetics can shift those numbers quickly. Once that calculated risk hits 20%, you are considered high-risk.

Because my risk sits well above that 20% mark, with the guidance from my provider I made the decision to start screenings now rather than waiting until I’m 40. I’m doing this for my own peace of mind, for my husband, for my daughter and son, and in honor of the women in my family who have fought this journey and won.

Early detection truly changes everything. It’s what caught my mom’s cancer. Thanks to a routine screening and a subsequent mastectomy, she is cancer-free today, and I am thankful every single day that she is religious about her preventative care.

If sharing this reminds even one person to call their doctor, we will keep posting. Take care of yourselves! 💖
