in honor of doug’s birthday, i think it’s time for a little doug lore.

because some of you know him as my husband. some of you know him as the guy behind the camera. some of you know him as the man quietly building whatever insane thing i doodled on a piece of paper 48 hours before an install.

a few things you should know about the man, the myth, the legend. and it’s time to put some respect on his name.

⚔️he’s had his pilot’s license since he was 16. my first flight EVER was with him as the pilot and i still cannot believe my parents agreed to.

⚔️ he once partied with Hodor. yes. game of thrones Hodor. there are so many layers to this man.

⚔️on our honeymoon in costa rica, i got pulled under by insane rapids on a stretch of river infamously called “the widow maker.” when i was flung out of the raft, doug somehow grabbed me BY MY FOOT and pulled me out of the water one-handed. the guides were freaking out and everyone on the trip decided this meant our marriage could officially survive anything. so far, correct.

⚔️he used to ride a motorcycle all over nyc to work like some kind of unnecessarily cool movie character.

⚔️he’s also a certified sailor and used to sail the hudson for fun. he made me get certified too. but it turns out i am much better suited to observing water from land.

⚔️he can code. he can design. he can woodwork. his brain fundamentally does not understand the phrase “i don’t know how to do that.”

⚔️he was named to Adweek’s Creative 100. he’s a big deal.

⚔️he’s won a Cannes Grand Prix. which, for anyone outside the creative industry, is a VERY big effing deal.

⚔️he builds all of our mechanics, engineers the things that defy gravity, and somehow helps bring my ideas to life.

⚔️some of the sculptural work we’re best known for has his hands and brain all over it. he has a completely different POV than i do, and The Flowerslinger is better because of it.

and underneath all of that, he is the best dad and partner in every possible sense of the word. in our family, in this business, in the chaos, in the dream.

happy birthday to the love of my life, the biggest pain in my derrière, and also the coolest person i know.

truth: your wedding doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s.

and our job isn’t to fill every empty space with flowers just because we can. we think about the whole room. where your eye goes, where we want something to feel big and a little avant garde, and where we need to pull back and let that moment actually have some impact.

we’re not designing from a checklist of where flowers are “supposed” to go. we’d rather put your investment somewhere that actually changes the way the space feels.

our best work happens when we’re trusted to look at the whole picture and create something that feels like your wedding, not one you’ve already seen.

not different just for the sake of being different. but intentional, elevated, beautiful, and maybe a little unexpected.

the right flowers, in the right places, doing something worth remembering.

i’ll never get over the fact that people choose to spend their floral budget with us and trust us to create something for such an important day in their lives. that opportunity is never lost on us. it’s such a privilege to get to make art for you, and i’m so deeply grateful every single time. thank you for believing in what we do.

when we say ALL KILLER, NO FILLER, we absolutely mean it.

we want flowers to feel abundant, romantic, and a little unruly. not arrangements made to look full with handfuls of cheap greenery and a few good blooms polka dotted in between. once you see this, you’ll know and you won’t be able to unsee it. 🤪

we fill with premium flowers sourced locally and internationally. a Flowerslinger arrangement has organic movement and texture and delicate little things you have to lean in to notice. every stem i choose is because it adds something to the story. it’s not just randomly placed as an afterthought.

for The Flowerslinger, abundance isn’t about filling space for the sake of filling up a space. it’s about filling it with beauty and intention.
