Creating the me I want to be, one day at a time.
It’s been at least two years since I did an exercise:
If there were no limits and everything went your way, describe your perfect day.
Well, mine started with waking up before everyone else, having a cup of coffee, doing a yoga practice, and listening to nature before diving into modern life.
It was crazy the amount of resistance I felt toward doing the very thing that I described in my perfect day.
As I’m finally making it a routine, and my nervous system is learning that it’s okay to have what I want, I reflect on the shift that got me here.
It’s pretty simple.
It’s a little “do it anyway” combined with a little “let it be what it is.”
Some days I don’t wear proper yoga clothes and just no-bra-and-T-shirt the hell out of it. Some days I don’t beat the boys awake, and they join in.
Whatever the hitch in my giddy-up, I just don’t let the perfect version in my head stop me from living the real-life version out loud.
Choose the destination, but remain flexible about the route, and it will sort itself out.
I have way more “perfect mornings” now that I’ve let go of how the perfect morning has to be.
