Creating the me I want to be, one day at a time.

It’s been at least two years since I did an exercise:

If there were no limits and everything went your way, describe your perfect day.

Well, mine started with waking up before everyone else, having a cup of coffee, doing a yoga practice, and listening to nature before diving into modern life.

It was crazy the amount of resistance I felt toward doing the very thing that I described in my perfect day.

As I’m finally making it a routine, and my nervous system is learning that it’s okay to have what I want, I reflect on the shift that got me here.

It’s pretty simple.

It’s a little “do it anyway” combined with a little “let it be what it is.”

Some days I don’t wear proper yoga clothes and just no-bra-and-T-shirt the hell out of it. Some days I don’t beat the boys awake, and they join in.

Whatever the hitch in my giddy-up, I just don’t let the perfect version in my head stop me from living the real-life version out loud.

Choose the destination, but remain flexible about the route, and it will sort itself out.

I have way more “perfect mornings” now that I’ve let go of how the perfect morning has to be.

For years I’ve felt called to do more.

I’ve worked with women through photography, branding sessions, coaching conversations, divorces, career changes, identity shifts, and seasons of becoming.

I’ve spent the last few years traveling, studying, getting certified through Mindvalley, learning what makes a great coach, what makes a transformational retreat, and most importantly, learning how to create spaces where people feel safe enough to reconnect with themselves.

And at some point I realized I wasn’t researching anymore.

I was preparing.

So I’m officially announcing I’m launching my coaching business and that next May I’ll be hosting The Sophia Retreat in Mexico.

I’m excited.

I’m terrified.

And I’m being brave enough to listen to my heart and “do it anyway”.

Every step has been preparing me for this.

I don’t have all the answers, but I know this:

I’m done waiting until I feel “ready.”

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that sometimes the bravest thing we can do is trust what keeps calling us and take the next step.

Here we go. ❤️

This morning, after much lost sleep and hours of getting kicked in the back thanks to some adorable bedtime intruders, I decided to just get up and enjoy being awake rather than be irritated by it.

So at 5:30, I grabbed my yoga mat and turned my face toward the sun.

I just sat there for a while before I made any moves. Then some slow stretches, followed by some vinyasa as the sun rose higher. Not a rehearsed flow, just whatever my body called for. Slow. Grounded. Present.

I felt like I could have done it for hours, but as my blood started flowing and I noticed the breeze was just perfect, I decided to go make a latte and return to the patio for some more “no agenda.”

I slurped my froth and looked through memories of the boys over the years, and it kind of hit me:

This is my perfect morning.

The one I’ve been describing for years.

What has been stopping me from doing this very thing on any given day?

Perhaps only a decision.

This isn’t just the life I’m building toward.

This IS the life.

This moment right now.

The one I’ll someday look back on and wish I’d appreciated more.

So today, I did.

This isn’t for everyone.

But if you’ve been doing the inner work…
and still feel like something is missing…
like you’re always “almost there,” but not quite…

I’ve been building something for you.

Something expansive.
Something intentional.
Something that helps you stop chasing fulfillment in the future and reconnect with your life right now.

All we ever have is the present moment.

More soon.

As a lover of costumes and holiday spirit, hosting the Dickens Portrait Parlor this year was such a pleasure! Those who chose to put in the extra effort obviously have the most fun, 😉 but they also make the event more special for everyone!
