🌸 Why Buy Locally Sourced & American Grown Flowers? 🌸
Did you know that about 85% of the fresh cut flowers sold in the U.S. are imported—mostly from countries like Colombia and Ecuador? That means only around 15% are grown right here in America.
Those imported stems often travel thousands of miles by air and truck, racking up a big carbon footprint, requiring heavy refrigeration, and sometimes relying on chemicals restricted in the U.S. In contrast, American-grown and locally sourced flowers are:
• Fresher — They reach you faster with longer vase life and more vibrant colors.
• Better for the planet — Lower transportation emissions, reduced packaging waste, and often more sustainable farming practices that support pollinators and local habitats.
• Stronger for our communities — Every bouquet you buy helps keep family farms thriving, creates jobs, and keeps money circulating in the U.S. economy.
Next time you’re picking up flowers for a birthday, anniversary, or just because—look for the American Grown label or ask your florist/farmers market for locally sourced options. Small choices add up to big impact!
Support American farmers and enjoy blooms that tell a better story. 💐🇺🇸

This past week volunteering for , , and renewed my goal to purchase as much American grown floral product as I can. Our flower farms here in Utah already have my support-now to expand my buying nationally.

This past week, I had the honor of being one of 24 volunteer Floral Designers chosen to be a part of the American Grown Flower Design Team here in our nation’s capital. Every designer paid their own way, and gave up many hours away from their families and own floral business or flower farm to bring their talents to this incredible event.
Politics aside: for me, this long standing Bipartisan event is about flowers and coming together to build relationships and community. It’s about raising funds for an important cause, and recognizing the power of our nation as one-not divided. The theme of Georgia’s Front Porch and Southern Elegance, combined with The Masters, was a beautiful vision brought to life by this design team.
The mutual love of flowers can often create an opportunity for lifelong friendships. This week I met designers from across the country; Alaska, Florida, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, and so many other areas. We came together to design with Certified American Grown Flowers (I will post on the significance and importance of this next time) for the 113th annual First Lady’s Luncheon hosted by the Congressional Club here in
Washington DC. It was an honorable, joyful, and tiresome time-but a wonderful and inspiring experience that I will never forget! Again, I need to emphasize the impact of bipartisan collaboration and American pride combined with the beauty of flowers, friendship and hard work!
I will have to post again soon, as my brain and body are beyond tired.

adjective
1.
showing or caused by strong feelings or a strong belief.

So my third post in this series of “Epic and Memorable” is Passionate.

This post is dedicated to the Galentine’s Gala Committee. While I have only been a member of this committee for 2 of the 6 years it has existed, I’ve witnessed the passion behind each individual in this planning team. The passion behind the project; from .rach ‘s huge heart; finding the right fit recipient’s each year, and her many hours of work, to the best organization and the important behind the scenes details in planning by .chamb, to the creative genius duo of and .youngphotography -the passion is there! The passionate support of for their incredible venue and tireless staff-again, this team and its passion. There are other committee members I didn’t get to work as closely with-but they had the needed passion and energy for this event and helped make it so special.
I don’t really need to mention my passion for flowers;
I hope my work is proof of how much of my heart loves what I do. While I’m sad that this is the final year of this phenomenal event, I am grateful to have been a small part of the planning team and the passion based heart of it all these past two years.

Mem¡o¡ra¡ble
/ˈmem(ə)rəb(ə)l/
adjective
worth remembering or easily remembered, especially because of being special or unusual.

Epic AND Memorable. Epic? See our prior post.
Special and unusual? Definitely.

Memorable how?
The Galentine’s Gala was memorable for so many reasons. It will be remembered for the important impact, the building of awareness, and contribution of funds and goodwill for the victims helped by .

The gala will be remembered because of the many combined artistic efforts and selfless service of local community creatives. We made an amazing team!

Lastly, when strong, capable women come together at an event like this, they form bonds of friendship, and celebrate one another. Energy is spent lifting each other up and forging new, important relationships and connections.

This event will not be forgotten.

Epic.
“In simple terms, epic means something grand, heroic, very impressive, or extremely large in scale, often involving long, difficult journeys or significant events, but it’s also used informally as slang for anything awesome or spectacular, like an “epic fail” or “epic concert”. It comes from ancient poems about heroes, but now it just means big and amazing. “ -Google.
