I was heartbroken when I couldnโ€™t find the ootheca in my magnolia tree in the cut flower garden this weekend. I thought the storm had destroyed it and blew it away.

Many of the seedlings took a hit, but as I was assessing the damage this afternoon and starting clean-up and weeding tasks, I happened to find the ootheca intact! And it was hatching! Hundreds of baby praying mantis were emerging and exploring the dirt and mulch.

We also found a second ootheca on a shrub in our front yard, with signs of hatching coming soon! Nature is incredible. ๐Ÿ’š

Happy World Bee Day! May 20th is recognized by the United Nations as World Bee Day, a day that is intended to raise worldwide awareness about the important work bees and other pollinators do to sustain our ecosystem and food supply. Here at Clovertrail Hives, we do not use pesticides and plant as many native plants as possible to support our sweet honeybees and bumblebee friends! Scroll through these adorable photos of our little worker bees. ๐Ÿ
