1) Choose the right layout. Position yourselves at the entrance to your reception space so that guests will naturally pass you as they enter.

2) Keep it moving. Receiving lines are for quick greetings only. Have a few go-to lines to use (We'll let you go try one of our signature drinks - they're delicious! We'll see you inside.) if any guests are lingering.

3) Give yourselves enough time. You don't want dinner service to be delayed because there are still 80 guests in the receiving line. Speak with your coordinator about how best to incorporate the receiving line into your timeline.

There's so much that happens on a wedding day, but we work hard to build timelines with breathing room.
