So awesome! Great job to these teens for a successful event! ⚜️
The Union Parish Library teen program called the Tic-Tacs plan, organize, and manage their own events! They made HISTORY this year by hosting the first teen led Mardi Gras ball in Union Parish. They decorated the ball with vines, white and gold florals and candles. The theme was Greek Mythology and everyone attended as a god or goddess from mythology literature. The leadership team made and coordinated their own menu of greek inspired foods: grape salad, cucumber sandwiches, pita chips/hummus, cheesecake, ceasar salad pasta, medusa cupcakes, and a greek yogurt bar. The evening festivities were greek games involving snakes, togas, trivia, arm wrestling, fruit relay, and a musical chalice challenge. Each first, second, and third place winner received medallion keepsakes. In the end, everyone won! Special thanks to That Place Downtown and IT'S A GIRL THING Making Proud Choices, Anti-Bullying and Drug Prevention for providing space, medallions, and food! After the dance (with their own playlist) the group ended the night with the traditional mardi gras Second Line napkin dance! A fantastic event full of wholesome fun all orchestrated for teens by teens! Tic-Tac stands for Teens in Charge Teen Advisory Council. They indeed are our future leaders!
