✨️Tomorrow Saturday August 15 at 7:00pm✨️

Join Clean River Partners and Steamboat Media for a screening of Living Waters of Faribault and learn the dramatic history of the city's founder.

First featured at the Downstream Environmental Film Festival earlier this year, the film returns for the first time in English. Stick around after the film for a chance to connect with the film director, Sam Temple.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. The film screening will start at 7:00 pm.

Living Waters of Faribault is a documentary short film (20 min) that tells the story of Alexander Faribault through the enduring presence of the Straight and Cannon Rivers. The film follows the rivers as steady witnesses to generations of life along their banks.

Alexander Faribault was the founder of the City of Faribault and a key figure in the founding of Rice County. As a mixed-race man, he sought to create a multicultural community where his European and Dakota relatives could live side by side. He helped shape the course of Minnesota history, and his legacy was deeply shaped by the changes he helped set in motion.

The film was directed and written by Sam Temple, with Claudia Garcia serving as executive producer and lead for Spanish cultural consultation. It features research and additional writing by Logan Ledman, original illustrations by Piper Mohring, and an original musical score by Sam Dwyer. Agua Vivas de Faribault (Living Waters of Faribault) reflects more than ten years of research, storytelling, and collaboration centered on Alexander Faribault’s memory.

The film was commissioned by Clean River Partners, with support from an MPCA grant.

A fun-filled evening of friendly competition, fabulous prizes, and fundraising for the arts!

The Paradise Center for the Arts invites the community to put their music knowledge to the test at its second Music Trivia Night with Muck & Tracey, happening on Thursday, August 27 at 7:00 PM at the Paradise.

This lively fundraiser promises an evening of laughs, great music, and spirited competition — all done with a twist: every trivia round is powered by vinyl records! That’s right — no digital playlists here. Just the warm, classic sound of vinyl spinning the hits and deep cuts.

Participants are encouraged to gather a team of four and join local favorites Muck and Tracey for a trivia night like no other. Teams will compete for the coveted title of Music Trivia Champions and have the chance to win fabulous prizes.
Participation is $100 per team ($25 per person), and all proceeds will directly support the Paradise Center for the Arts and its vibrant programming.
Whether you’re a die-hard music lover or just in it for the fun, this event is the perfect way to enjoy a summer evening while giving back to the arts.

Join us Friday, August 21, from 5:00–7:00 PM for a welcoming Opening Reception celebrating the exceptional work of Jodi Reeb, JC Turner, Mary Welke, and Girl Scout Daisy Troop 38060.

This special evening is a wonderful opportunity to meet the artists, connect with community members, and hear the inspiration behind their work. We are especially excited to showcase the creativity of local Girl Scout Daisy Troop 38060 alongside the work of our featured artists.

The exhibitions will be on view August 21 through September 26.
