Due to major changes in styles, trends, and traditions in both wedding and prom in the recent years, I have seen detrimental shifts in my store in the last year to year and a half. Because of this, I have made a hard decision not to extend my lease and I will be closing the store at the end of May 2026.
Shoppers are looking for very specific items and are not as open as they once were. More moms need to wear a specific color (even some wedding guests now too!) with little options available in store – in a dress their size and a dress they like. Most recently, prom girls want the most current trends and coming in wanting specific colors (they don’t want older styles or bridesmaid dresses that many consignors think work for prom). To get the look, color, and prices shopper’s desire, more are leaving and turning to online shopping; but trying on for fun or for ideas does not sustain the consignment cycle nor a small business.
No further consignment will be accepted, and we are working on pickups of remaining consigned inventory through March. Sales have begun for March and will continue to lower until closure; changes will take place in scheduling for shoppers - watch formallyyoursfargo.com for all updates and information on the homepage or feel free to email with any questions.
I want to thank all the loyal and repeat shoppers and great consignors over the years! We have seen so many faces return year after year and have seen them progress from buying their prom dress to buying their wedding dress with us! I’ve seen the younger sister finally old enough to buy their prom dress after years of watching older sisters. I’ve also had moms purchase dresses for multiple weddings of their children or family. You are what kept me going for so many years!
Katie’s finishing grad school and ready to enter the wonderful world of adulthood and a career in her field. She has been such a blessing over the last 5+ years that I really don’t know if I could move forward finding someone to replace her! I’m also very excited to start a new chapter in my life; one that includes a lot less stress and spending more dinners, Saturdays, and weekends with my husband, family, and friends before life passes us by.
