🔥 Mullein Torches & Old Appalachian Ways 🌿

Before porch lights and flashlights, folks made use of what the hills provided. Mullein, with its tall stalk and fuzzy leaves, could be dried and fashioned into simple torches for use around the homestead, barn, or path.

And mullein had another place in old folk traditions. Its leaves and flowers were valued in Appalachian herbalism, and there are historical accounts of mullein smoke being used in folk remedies—particularly for respiratory complaints.

Still, I love the ingenuity behind it. One humble plant could have a place in the garden, the medicine cabinet, and even as a source of light.

Nothing wasted. Everything had a purpose. That’s the Appalachian way. 🌿🔥

There’s something downright magical about Tulsi in the garden. 🌿💚

Barely brush against it and that incredible aroma rises up. Water it, and suddenly the whole area smells amazing. It’s like the garden is giving you a little aromatherapy session just for showing up. 😂

Tulsi might just be one of my favorite-smelling herbs to grow.

I’m not waiting until my body starts waving red flags to decide I should probably take better care of it. 😂

Being proactive about your overall health means feeding your body good things, moving it, getting some rest, managing stress, and paying attention when something feels off.

Because prevention is a whole lot more fun than playing catch-up later.

Take care of the body you’ve got—it’s the only one you get. 💪🌿

Harvest is a special time of year. Don't forget to take the seeds!
