As we take winter off we go through old family danish and Dutch recipes! Today we made oatmeal cookies with bacon grease! Yep you heard me right!!
Now I don't recommend using Grease from store-bought bacon! But we have raised and butchered our own pig 💜 He ate our healthy diet left-overs! We save the leftover lard year-round and keep it in a glass jar in the fridge. Per our family tradition we don't clean the little burnt bits out like other people recommend. The grease or lard are one-to-one ratio as if you were using butter. What's most interesting is the amount of sugar in the cookie is way less than the sugar in cookies of today!! We'd love to share our family recipe with you... Let us know when you have saved up enough lard from your own pig 🐷 💜

Can't wait to see y'all!! We will be cooking up some sweet chili and hush puppies along with our funnel fries, with our homemade syrups. At our booth we will be selling a few homemade syrups along with our famous jalapeno pomegranate jelly & almond joy cookies! We hope to see you there 💜
