Happy Holidays everyone!
To start, Jessica and I would like to thank all of you that made this year yet another incredible season for Salty Dog BBQ! From the incredible weddings we had the privilege of catering, The awesome corporate BBQ’s we were able to do for people, to the incredible venues, photographers and coordinators we got to work with, this year was busy and rewarding for us. If we were to be honest there was a couple very hot weeks in August that would test any caterer, but we made it!
As many of you know, Jess and I started this business back in 2018. We certainly had a lot to learn, and frankly didn’t know what to expect. But it was time to be brave and try something on our own. This was our first time owning a small business, and we understood the challenges that can come with that, especially in the food service business. We had a lot to learn but worked to always improve on the service we provided people, and to slowly grow and improve our business. We are still extremely grateful for the companies and people that helped us on the way, other caterers and food trucks, and incredible breweries that invited us to do business with them and more.
Normally this January we would start providing quotes and booking 2027. However, at least initially, we will not be booking beyond 2026. We have decided that next year will be the last year Salty Dog BBQ is operated by Jessica and I. It has been a great run, but with our “day jobs”, two grandchildren, and two more on the way, it is time to reclaim our vacation days and weekends after this coming season. We have always tried to be fair and transparent with our clients and potential clients. Booking 2027 without a solid succession plan, to us, just isn’t the right thing to do.
With that being said, we are looking for the right person or family to take forward what we have started. If you, or someone you know, has ever wanted to be in the food truck & catering business, we would love to discuss this with you. It comes with a lot of work and dedication, but has been a rewarding venture for us. We would ideally work with a potential buyer next year and provide all of the guidance we can, formulate the relationships with other companies, and assist someone in being successful in this business.
