If you've been thinking about hosting an event at the Exmore Social Hall, think June, July and August, as this good thing must come to an end in September!

It has been a joy to host birthday parties, requiems, meetings, baby showers and reunions over the last couple of years, and to get to work with Theresa Fahy as our wonderful manager!

We wish it could go on forever, but we haven't been able to get to a place where we could cover operation costs, and so will need to pack Exmore Social Hall away for now, perhaps to rise again in the future.

THE UPSIDE! We will be renting out the Exmore Social Hall space as residence or workspace starting in September. If you've been inside, you know its an unusual and rather amazing space with its sun-filled two-story main room and old vault. It also has a full kitchen, a smaller room which can be used as a bedroom, a shower room and two half-bathrooms.

UPDATE: Thanks to those who took a chance on a new idea and purchased tickets! Unfortunately, we didn't sell enough by today to go forward with the event this year, so we'll have to push this event into the future. All purchasers will have their tickets automatically refunded, and we'll look forward to next year.

We wish we could show you pictures, but since this will be our first ever pop-up beer garden, you'll have to imagine the skillets of frying brats, the vats of ice-cold beer, the warm pretzels, the flying pennants, the gingham topped tables and the polka tunes!

Ticket gets you up to four beverages (wine, beer or soda), brats, potato salad, ice-cream and hot pretzels!

The event benefits Aid Another, and is being held in conjunction with the Between the Waters Bike Tour.

As some of you know, upstairs from the Exmore Social Hall is The Bank Loft, a furnished apartment which we rent out to shore visitors over the summer. It is available this November 2023 through May 2024 for someone looking for a short-term rental. The monthly rent of $1,200 includes utilities and internet. WE'VE GOT A KITCHEN!

Matt, Theresa and I have been busy over the winter adding to Exmore Social Hall's amenities and services. We've built and stocked an Event Borrow Closet, and renovated the old People's Trust Bank furnace room into a pretty darn charming kitchen for those renting ESH to use.

We're still putting the final touches on the Borrow Closet inside the old vault (pictures to come) but its already stocked with all kinds of things useful to anyone wanting to throw a birthday celebration, a baby shower, a music event, a tea party or an elegant dinner in the space: platters, serving bowls, candle holders, baskets, cutting boards, games and outdoor/indoor play toys, etc.

In the kitchen, there's a 3 bay sink, a refrigerator, a prep counter, microwave, warming box and other prep/clean-up equipment.

Oh! And thanks to our kind neighbors, Melissa and Mike, there is now a gorgeous tuned and ready grand piano in the old lobby.

Come on by and see the many improvements. Theresa, our manager is in on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday. She can be reached at 434-960-6637, to work out a time to come by, or just drop in if there's no event going on.

Getting our Christmas on at Exmore Social Hall. Front windows done. Beautifully scented 11 ft. Frasier Fir still to decorate! It's been great to get calls from folks wanting to use the space for company holiday parties. We want to look yuletide special!
