We were so lucky to have Meghan Stratton join our team a few years ago as an Intern with City Social. We are now so grateful to be witness to her work in her local community, her work in Indianapolis at Butler University and Indy Maven. At City Social, we value collaboration with each unique individual we work with whether it's a team member or client - thank you, Meghan for taking a chance on us and for showing us what it means to be a leader.

Work has looked much different the last several months for our team as we’ve transitioned from large scale off-site work to a more behind the scenes focus due to the pandemic. Most creative projects for our team seemed to come to a complete halt earlier this year and we are so excited to be back collaborating with local creatives and entrepreneurs, and likewise can’t wait to share more that we’ve been working on. While we could spend hours writing about the impact of selves and others the last several months, right now, we are taking in this present moment of gratitude for our work, our collaborators, and our community. Camelot Jewelers is a female-owned and operated local business who epitomizes love, craft, and legacy through their work and brand. We work behind the scenes with their team as well as the Courthouse Creative Cooperative to continue to tell their story as it unfolds which is in essence, the story of people in our community. These photos are a sneak peak and behind the scenes of some more exciting projects Camelot has coming up in the next several months. One of their mantras is “you have to love it,” and we asked each participant in today’s photoshoot what “it” means to them. So now I’ll ask you - what is “it” to you? Sending you all love and gratitude.

We are proud to be a part of a community that is beginning to show up in person and through their work to stand with our Black sisters and brothers, to work towards healing ourselves and our world. We must take it upon ourselves as individuals to do our work, to challenge one another to embrace the uncomfortability of standing up for others, unlearning what we have been taught, and challenging people towards growth as we move each step forward. It is important to note that “the work” doesn’t stop at doing “the work”. The work must become engrained in us, a way of being. It’s something that we have to live and breathe every day.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth. Today we recognize those that have come before us, those that we stand with now, and those that will come after us. Onward, we have work to do. We have work to be.

While we continue to shelter in place, we are reflecting and feeling grateful for the people we’ve met and connections we’ve made while collaborating in the community. Our Lead Coordinator, Leslie, and local Designer, Matt Wagner with the , coached with for her 2019 talk. Cindy embraced the vulnerability and courage it took to stand on a stage and share her story, a story that she knew might create space for people in the audience to feel uncomfortable. Her talk, “Why Engaging Your Community in Your Struggle Story Can Change the World”, leaves us all with a call to action to embrace own own vulnerability as we navigate our lives and how they are interconnected with those around us. Our Cafecito interview is in our stories and you can watch Cindy’s and all other TEDxEvansville talks online (link in our Bio). If you’re wanting to be inspired, ready to shift your perspective, and wanting to see how we can implement change together in our communities as we continue to grieve and heal in our new world, these videos are a great place to start. With gratitude ♥️

We have been working behind the scenes these last several weeks to come back to our foundation, update our client experience, and prepare for this next season. We are grateful to work with couples as they plan their wedding, to curate a vision and space of celebration and love. We can’t wait to plan in person again, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you. We are all in this together ♥️🙏

Life looks a little different these days as we continue to navigate a new normal before the next new normal. We thrive collaborating with our team, other local creatives, and our clients, but are learning to go with the flow of life when it doesn’t go as expected. We are excited to be with our spring clients over the next several months after rescheduling weddings and events from this season. If you are rescheduling a wedding or event and need some help figuring out where to start, please reach out. We don’t have all of the answers but we are doing the best we can with what we have. We are sending love to all - we are all in this together.

Our Lead Coordinator, .eades , Matt Wagner with the , and DeAndre Wilson with and the Keep Rolling Campaign, started as a platform for voices to be heard in our community. This is a passion project but more importantly it’s a safe place for people to gather, be together as one, and to live our lives as our most authentic selves. We need each other more than ever now and we want to bring to you, with you. Please consider following and participating. While we are isolating and remaining hopeful, we are scared. But we are also alive and we are brave and so VERY important, we are not alone. We are in this together. Sending love to all.

After much deliberation and consideration this last weekend, our team has decided to work remotely and practice social distancing for the indefinite future. We believe this is the most responsible course of action for our team as an act of precaution as COVID-19 rapidly spreads to each of our communities. We are hopeful to look back at this time and see it as a great over-reaction as we very much take our duty to care for one another very seriously. Until things get back to "normal" we will be prioritizing caring for ourselves in mind, body, and spirit as we likewise recognize and honor our shared humanity as we all navigate life, together. If you have any questions about our decision and are trying to decide if social distancing is what you want to do, please send us a message. We are all scared, we are all making tough calls, but we are all in this together.

How do you decide which vendors will be the best fit for your event? With our team, it goes back to answering the questions about what you see in your event vision, who you most align with, and by deciding what is the most important to leave your guests with the feeling of celebration. We work with our clients to curate custom vendor recommendations for each event based on these elements. We encourage everyone to think outside of what you're used to seeing, to be bold. We believe working with individuals who best fit your style and vision is a crucial element to event planning, and finding vendors who are willing to do something different is key as well. If you have questions about our process, we'd love to hear from you.

This photo is from our Relaunch in March of 2019 at White Swan Coffee Lab. We had some of our favorite local vendors on-site working and attending, including Whitney from Emerald Design. She hosted a flower bar for guests to engage and have a takeaway from their experience at the event.
