If you are unexpectedly in the market for a new coordinator given the information that has recently come out - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE double check, vet, and research the people who are offering to help!
(prefacing that these are 2am thoughts and I will be sharing this multiple groups as I know many couples in many states are affected so apologies in advance)

🚩Red flags to look for:

#1: A price that seems too good to be true.
A few hundred dollars for a full wedding day doesn't add up. Think about 8 hours on site, plus 5-10 hours of prep/admin work and potentially 2-5 hours of travel. That works out to a few dollars an hour, and no one can sustain that.

#2: No legal documents, or a vague contract.
You should be receiving legal documents by email to establish a chain of communication. You should also get a contract with a countersignature, plus an IP address and time of signing if using digital or facsimile signatures. You should receive a copy of every one of these documents for your records.

#3: Pressure to pay in full upfront, or payment only through personal Venmo, Zelle, or cash.
Ask for an invoice from their business and pay with a credit card if possible - it is easier to dispute than with a debit card.

#4: No references, past couples to talk to, or portfolio of work.
Anyone doing this well will happily connect you with recent clients. They should also have examples of weddings they have worked on in the past and will gladly share them!

#5: Facebook Messenger or a group like this is your only way to reach them.
Your sole method of contact should not be Messenger or a group post. You need an email and a phone number.

An honorable mention, respectfully… and this one might make people angry and that’s okay… just because someone loved planning their wedding and want to help other people for theirs means they know what goes into the prep, planning, ex*****on, problem solving, troubleshooting, and everything else that comes with a wedding.

I know everyone has a different budget, and you deserve amazing service at whatever price point you're comfortable with. But if an offer feels too good to be true, ask what's really included and how they can afford to deliver it.🩷
