Just Borking Around Welcome to the official page for my food blog! -Kate Lax-Watkins aka The Swedish Chef Hey y’all! They call me the Swedish Chef. I come by it honestly.

My name is Kate Lax-Watkins, I am 25 years of age, and I hail from the cornfields of Evansville, Indiana. I am a registered dental hygienist and an amateur home chef. My handsome husband of 2 years is both my biggest supporter and also my biggest food critic, which helps keep me on my toes. Most of these recipes are not my own, but rather based on ideas found on Pinterest or other social media sites. I try with all my heart to give credit where it is due! I am far from a professional cook and even farther from being a professional photographer, but I hope to grow through this process.

Our Story

Hey y’all! My name is Kate Whitaker, I am 23 years of age, and I hail from the cornfields of Evansville, Indiana. I am a graduate of USI’s Dental Hygiene Program. In my free time I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, four wheeling, fishing, boating, shooting, camping, exploring, and walking my two fur babies Chester and Red. Cooking is my passion above all; it gives me such a feeling of accomplishment to see the faces of those I cook for light up with enjoyment They call me the Swedish Chef. I come by it honestly. Flying utensils, clanging cookware, dramatic whisking, and random gibberish fill the Whitaker kitchen every week night. Once the smoke has cleared, my family participates in a seemingly extinct ritual: gathering around the dining room table to eat a home cooked meal. In an attempt to share recipes and cooking experiences through my Pinterest-inspired journey, this blog was born. Most of these recipes are not my own, but rather based on ideas found on Pinterest or other social media sites. I try with all my heart to give credit where it is due! I am far from a professional cook and even farther from being a professional photographer, but I hope to grow through this process.
