For one weekend a year, Florence, Alabama, becomes the heart of Muscle Shoals as Jason Isbell brings his annual Shoalsfest to Florence's McFarland Park. This is the festival’s fifth year, and it just keeps getting better. One thing that sets Shoalsfest apart from most music festivals is its focus

AMERICANAFEST 2026 is over, and we're still recovering from five days of running from venue to venue to try and fit it all in! Pulling out our favorites from the dozens of acts we saw is a Sisyphean task, but we've given it a shot. Here is our Best of AMERICANAFEST. Best of the Fest: Ruthie Foste

Pure 2000s rock nostalgia was unleashed last Saturday night as Staind brought the Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour to the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Center, New York. Joining them for a powerhouse lineup were Seether , Hoobastank , and Hinder . Despite a cloudy sky and

Over the past few years, you may have come across the band Elder gracing my review column here at Concerthopper. Since first listening to Elder's second studio album, Dead Roots Stirring , in 2011, I have been intrigued by every new album the band has released. The evolution of Elder is quite rem

The 2026 edition of Jason Isbell's Shoalsfest is going down Oct. 3 and 4 in Florence, AL's McFarland Park, and Isbell is going full-on jam band mode with this year's festival, performing not once or twice but three times over the course of the festival. For Isbell fans, there's plenty to love a

It wasn’t a typical Wednesday night at Buffalo, NY’s Outer Harbor. There are concerts that you attend, and there are concerts that feel like a reunion. Alexisonfire proved to be very much the latter. With Underoath , Buffalo-connected hardcore legends Snapcase and Spaced HC adding to the bill

August 7th, 2026 wasn’t just any ordinary day in Buffalo, New York. Elder emo’s and alternative adults gathered at the Outer Harbor Terminal B to celebrate the last stop of the Camp Screamo Tour. Emo/post-hardcore veterans Silverstein and Story of the Year brought friends Origami Angel and Al

There are plenty of family bands in roots music (HAIM, Larkin Poe) and plenty of supergroups (I'm With Her, The Highwomen), but rarely do you get a family band that is also a supergroup. But that's exactly what The Family, whose album Delusions of Grandeur releases 7/31/2026, is. You've got Ame

It's not often that I get to write about what I consider an album of the year candidate. So imagine my surprise when not only did two hit my inbox, but they both came out the same day, 7/17/26. Musically, these two albums couldn't be more different, but they demonstrate just how broad the “America...

It's been a strong year for roots and Americana albums so far, with big names like Sturgill Simpson and Taj Mahal releasing acclaimed albums and lesser-known stars like Chicago Farmer and Tim Easton putting out quality work. Narrowing the list down to my favorite 10 was a chore, but I've finally man
