While peonies are our main focus, people often assume we take the rest of the year “off.” Not quite! Summer sales are usually a bit slower—partly because so many folks are on vacation, and partly because I want to soak up these summer days with the kids while they’re still home.

But things are far from quiet around here. We’re busy picking blackberries, peaches, and cucumbers. (Still planting tomatoes—better late than never!) while keeping an eye on our grapes. We’re sweet-talking our new chickens into laying some eggs soon, laughing that we somehow ended up with three roosters this year, and I’m still chasing off coyotes in broad daylight.

The dahlias need staking, the weeds are relentless, and the sweat? Constant. It’s hot, it’s hectic, but it’s home—and we’re right in the thick of it.
