Rooted in tradition, elevated by experience—Woodside Plantation blends Southern sporting heritage with modern sophistication to create a one-of-a-kind destination for corporate retreats, executive gatherings, weddings, and outdoor pursuits. No boot and shoot here, only fine fields of broom straw, lespedeza, sorghum, millet and native grasses mixed amongst the pine. Woodside offers day quail hunts

along with morning duck hunts and has a dove club. Overnight stays in the plantation house or our lower duck pond can be complemented by meals served by our private chef.

Members and guests arrive in the early morning light for coffee and sweets in the Gun Room. The fire crackles and pops alongside the safety talk. Inevitably stories are shared, peppered with embellishments and a few tall tales. Then mugs are abandoned for boots, blaze orange and guns…all with a quiet excitement in the air.

The dogs and mules wait patiently for everyone to get squared away, tell that one last joke, and load up. Then it’s time to go to work.

The season is fast approaching. Can you feel it?

Aaand, that’s a wrap! Huge shout out to everyone who made this season unforgettable. We couldn’t ask for a better crew here at Woodside, and we couldn’t imagine a group of members with more character and good will to share the season with.

Jack Cassidy founded the hunting program at Woodside in 2019 with McNeal Finley at the helm. This past season marked its return after a two year hiatus, with Caleb Jarrard leading the program. Throughout it all, Don McPherson and James Ling have ensured that the grounds are kept, the mules run smoothly and the birds are marked. This season may be finished, but the work to make sure next year is a success has just begun - not to mention turkey season is around the corner.

Thanks to the tireless crew for all their efforts spent creating this one-of-a-kind experience here in the heart of the Lowcountry.

The soft, warm light of spring returns. As the height of quail hunting season begins to wind down, we turn some of our attention to gardens, opening porches, preparing for pollen, and planting for the upcoming season. We now awaken to bird song - and occasionally even sunlight - the chickens are laying eggs again, the first cloud of pollen blew through the meadow this morning, and the barn cats seem to continue multiplying…

Woodside is more than just a hunting lodge or event venue, it’s an ecosystem that we couldn’t be more honored to tend and share with you!
