Barbara Kathryn Sumpter, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Born in Decatur, Illinois, on October 16, 1948, to the late Guy and Sarah Gragg Sumpter, Barbara lived a life marked by faith, kindness, and a deep devotion to the children she taught.

Barbara had an extraordinary gift for teaching children. She earned her master’s degree in elementary education and her Rank I certification, then began her career in 1976 at Redwood. Barbara went on to teach at Cresent Springs Elementary and River Ridge Elementary before retiring. After a year of retirement, Barbara decided she wasn’t finished. She worked at St. Cecilia for several years before retiring for good in 2025. In the classroom, she was more than an exceptional teacher—she was a steady source of encouragement, creativity, and joy. She poured her heart into helping each child feel valued, capable, and excited to learn, and her students were blessed by the care she brought to every one of them.

Outside the classroom, Barbara found joy in the simple and meaningful things: time spent with her family and friends, collecting marbles, and treasuring signed books. She also had a deep love and compassion for animals, especially her beloved dogs, who brought her companionship, and much happiness through the years. Barbara’s faith was the foundation of her life. She loved God with a quiet and unwavering devotion, and her Catholic faith guided the way she loved, taught, and cared for others. She was a parishioner at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Independence.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Sarah Sumpter.

Survivors include her sister, Brenda (Stephen) Bryant, brother, Jeptha (Debbie) Sumpter; her life long best friend, Javita Reeves; her nephews, Jeptha “Jeppie” (Elissa) Sumpter, Benjamin (LeeAnn) Bryant; niece, Kristin (Kevin) Shramvich and a host of extended family and dear friends.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Barbara’s name to Stray Haven PO Box 571, Aurora, IN 47001.

Irene Ann Oquendo (nee Painchaud), age 90, of Erlanger, Kentucky, passed away peacefully just seven weeks after the passing of her beloved husband, Ernesto “Ernie” Oquendo.

Born on July 26, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, Irene was one of eight siblings. In recent years, she especially enjoyed her daily trips to Kroger, where she loved to browse the aisles.

Before he passed, she also loved spending time with Ernie. They truly cherished each other’s company and took great care of one another. Irene and Ernie shared 72 wonderful years together, and their love and devotion to one another was evident in the way they cared for and enjoyed each other throughout their lives.

Irene is survived by her siblings, Rich (Terri) Painchaud, Thomas Painchaud, and Patricia (Bud) Satchell.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernesto “Ernie” Oquendo, and her siblings, Shirley Smith, Pinky Painchaud, Rose Standup, and Walter Painchaud.

Michael “Mike” Thomas Games, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 9, 2026. Born on December 18, 1941, in Frankfort, Kentucky, Mike was the son of the late Herndon Thomas “Tommy” Games and Rebecca Isabelle (Hamilton) Games.

Mike shared 51 years of loving marriage with his wife, Suzanne (Couch) Games. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Florida and making trips to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, a beloved tradition they looked forward to twice each year. Whether taking in the magical Christmas lights or admiring the colorful blooms of spring, these trips created treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A lifelong Corvette enthusiast, Mike had a special appreciation for these iconic cars. Over the years, he owned, collected, and worked on his fair share of Corvettes, often moving on to the next one as his passion continued. His love for the cars was something he delighted in sharing with his children, including trips to the National Corvette Museum, where he could teach them about the vehicles he admired so much. For Mike, Corvettes were more than just cars; they were a hobby, a passion, and a way to create lasting memories with his family.

During his years working as a Service Engineer for IBM, Mike became so familiar with Cincinnati that he seemed to know the city better than a map. His work took him throughout the area, and his knowledge of its streets and neighborhoods became just another part of what made him uniquely Mike.

Mike also knew how to appreciate the simple pleasures in life. He had a special fondness for Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken and enjoyed good food, time spent with family, and, most of all, being surrounded by the love of those closest to him. Whether traveling, talking about cars, sharing a meal, or simply gathering with loved ones, Mike found joy in the moments that mattered most.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Herndon Thomas “Tommy” Games and Rebecca Isabelle (Hamilton) Games, and his stepmother, Alice Blanton.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 51 years, Suzanne Games; his sons, Dax (Robin) Games,
Scott Games, and Matthew Games (Britta Cromwell); and his beloved granddaughters, Samantha Games and Olivia Games. He is also survived by his cousin, Larry Smith, along with his longtime friends Jerry and Brenda Brewer, Don and Rita Davis, Jim and Helen Harbour, and Joe and Sharron Shotwell, all of whom held a special place in his life.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Home, with services to follow at 12:00 p.m.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Deanne Michelle Hensley Stansel, who passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026, at the age of 60.

Michelle was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Terry Hensley; her daughter, Amberley Stansel; and her cherished grandchildren, Tristan and Taven. She is also survived by her sister, Erin Jackson (Scott); her brother, Chad Stansel (Christian); along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Winters, and her father, Richard Stansel.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Michelle’s memory, celebrate her life, and say their final goodbyes on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at Linnemann Funeral Homes. Visitation will begin at 10 am following a funeral service at 11 am. Michelle will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park following funeral services.

Linda Buckel-Arrington, 78, passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with illness.

Linda was a graduate of St. Albany High School and worked for many years as an office manager in the real estate industry. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany.

She was an avid tennis player and loved music and the opportunity to get out on the dance floor. Above all, Linda cherished her family and treasured the time they spent together. Family gatherings were especially meaningful to her, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart.

Linda is survived by her husband, David E. Arrington; her children, Jon Manners (Kelle), Tony Manners, Chanda Abedelfatah, Launa Arrington, and Richard Kelley (Debbie); her grandchildren, Shayla Allen, Sierra Gordon, Bradley Manners, Erin Manners, Trinity Abedelfatah, Felicity Abedelfatah, and Cullen Abedelfatah; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Dr. Larry Buckel (Kitty) and Mark Buckel (Julia).

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ricke Buckel.

Per Linda’s request, she will be cremated and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Ralph Marsh, age 92, of Erlanger, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. He was born on July 17, 1934, in Newport, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Emma (nee Reiman) Marsh.

Ralph loved life and, more importantly, he loved making sure those around him were having a good time. He was truly the life of the party — always ready with a joke, a story, or an attempt to get a round of karaoke started. His love of music was a special part of his life. Ralph was a member of a barbershop quartet that brought music and joy to nursing home residents, and he proudly sang in the choir at Mary Queen of Heaven Church, where he was a longtime member and dedicated volunteer. Ralph also volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital for an incredible 35 years.

Ralph loved nothing more than being outdoors and creating lasting memories with the people he loved. He wanted his family to experience as much of life as possible, which meant countless camping trips shared with friends, family, and relatives. He enjoyed hiking and his passion was gardening. For more than 30 years, Ralph and his wife were snowbirds, traveling to Florida, where they made many wonderful friends and he touched the lives of many in his Florida community.

But of all the things Ralph enjoyed, nothing compared to his love for his family. He was a provider, a devoted husband, and, in the words of his children, “the best dad.” He was the kind of man who could make a dime into a dollar, always making the most of what he had and taking great pride in providing for the people he loved. He cherished his wife, Sally, and took great pride in the family they built together. He was a loving father, grandpa, great-grandpa, and great-great-grandpa who treasured every generation that followed him..

Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Marcella “Sally” Marsh (nee Volz); his children, Michael “Mike” Marsh, Ken (Debbie) Marsh, Kim (Tracey) Exeler, Kristi (Bill) McClure, Patty (Terry) Young, and Tim (Abby Judge) Marsh; grandchildren, Angela (Kris) DeMoss, Christopher Marsh, Kenny (Alicia) Marsh, Robert Marsh, Kevin (Tiffany) Wertz, Dave (Natalie) Marsh, Ben (Mandy) Marsh, Lindsay Pyles, Joey (Ashley) Exler, Emma McClure, Lee McClure, Briana Young, Karly Egbers, Alyssa Egbers, Ralph Marsh, and Frankie Marsh; great-grandchildren, Jacob DeMoss, Everett DeMoss, Caleb Wainscott, Sydney Marsh, Jax Wertz, Kellan Wertz, Mila Wertz, Marleigh Marsh, Benson Marsh, Jada Marsh, Cole Marsh, Brody Marsh, and Cayden Pyles; and great-great-grandchildren, Summer and Bently Wainscott.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Emma Marsh, and his three brothers.

Visitation for Ralph will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Mary Queen of Heaven Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow the Mass at the Erlanger Lakes Clubhouse.

Ralph lived a life full of music, laughter, adventure, service, and — most of all — love. He leaves behind a family who will miss his jokes, his stories, his singing, and his unmistakable way of making every gathering a little more fun. Gary Crone, 69, of Villa Hills, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Seasons of Alexandria, surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born on November 26, 1956, in Covington, Kentucky, and grew up in Northern Kentucky, graduating from Conner High School in 1974. Villa Hills was always home to Gary, and it was there that he built a beautiful life with his wife, Robin, and their family.

Gary and Robin met in 1983 at the 99 Center in Crescent Springs. Two years later, on July 30, 1985, they were married. They began their married life on Niewahner Drive in Villa Hills and eventually welcomed two children, Jordan in 1988 and Shannon in 1990.

Gary spent 30 years with Delta Air Lines, working primarily on the ramp, before retiring in 2008. But his greatest role in life was being a husband, father, and grandfather. Gary was the kind of dad who was simply always there. He rarely missed a track meet, golf tournament, diving competition, cheer competition, or tennis match. He loved his children deeply and took tremendous pride in supporting them in everything they pursued.

That same devotion carried into his role as a grandfather. Gary could often be found at Shannon’s house, where he came almost every day to help with Hazel, Lennon, and Iris. He would bathe them, change them, hold them, play games, help with homework, swing them around, and—of course—bring them their favorite snacks. He never rushed his time with them. For Gary, being present was what mattered most.

When Gary wasn’t spending time with his family, there was a good chance he was on a golf course. He played three times a week and served as “the commissioner” of the Delta Airlines AKA Delweiser Golf League. Golf was a favorite pastime, but the friendships he made along the way meant just as much. Gary was fortunate to have many wonderful friends who stood by him through thick and thin, visiting him at home, in the hospital, and during his time in rehabilitation.

Gary was a simple, laid-back man who didn’t need much to be happy. He enjoyed good friends, family, a casual meal, and anything with plenty of buffalo sauce and jalapenos. And after years of searching for the perfect truck, Gary finally found his pride and joy…a 2025 Bronze Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition, which he traveled to Columbus to bring home.

Gary’s final four months were marked by a courageous battle with glioblastoma. Although his illness progressed rapidly despite treatment, his family finds peace knowing that he is no longer suffering. They are especially grateful to Britney, his nurse at Seasons of Alexandria, whose compassion and dedication helped ensure that Gary remained comfortable and free from pain.

Gary will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 41 years, Robin Crone; his son, Jordan (Brittany Hale) Crone; his daughter, Shannon (Stu) Johnson; his two sisters and several brothers- and sisters-in-law who loved him dearly; and his grandchildren, Hazel, Lennon, and Iris.

He leaves behind a family and many friends who will forever remember him for his quiet nature, generous heart, unwavering support, and the simple joy he found in being there for the people he loved.

Gary’s Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Linnemann Funeral Homes, 1940 Burlington Pike, Burlington, Kentucky. His son-in-law, Stu Johnson, will offer a prayer at 8:00 p.m.
