Erie’s own Gem City Band teams up with the visiting Community Bands of Westmoreland County (CBWC) for an exciting afternoon of live music on Sunday, September 21st. Join us at the Liberty Park for this free outdoor event starting at 1PM. The mini music festival will feature delightful concerts by both bands, a jazz ensemble, and even a steel drum band!
Gem City Band, a staple of the Erie music scene, is a dynamic group of 60+ musicians who present concerts regularly at many local venues and community events. Their repertoire includes a wide range of traditional concert pieces, show tunes, patriotic marches and much more. Also featured will be their Flagship Steel Drum Band, performing a colorful range of music including Calypso, Latin, and Pop selections, offering audiences a unique and uplifting musical experience.
CBWC consists of 40+ musicians visiting the Erie waterfront from the Eastern Pittsburgh county of Westmoreland. The group forms yearly, drawing members from 5 local community bands. Their concert will feature hits from artists including Elton John, Chicago, and many more, along with Sousa marches, and a crowd pleasing New Orleans Style Jazz Combo. In 2024 the group was honored to perform for the dedication of the National World War I Memorial in Washington, D.C. (pictured). They have also held concerts throughout Pennsylvania at locations such as Flight 93 National Memorial, Gettysburg National Cemetery, and other historic sites.
Bring a lawn chair, pack a picnic, and enjoy the show!
