Happy National Loving Day 🤍✨

To those who are unaware, in*******al marriage laws prohibiting black people to marry white people existed in 30 out of 48 states in 1966 (Hawaii and Alaska were not yet states).

The Loving v. Virginia case holds a special place in my heart here at DBH as The Supreme Court gave a monumental ruling in 1967 that struck down laws limiting black people and select other marginalized races to only marry within their race. It is important we acknowledge that less than 50 years ago, our marriage would not be acknowledged, we’d be denied a marriage license, and would likely face jail time in the state of Florida, which is where we married in 2023.

It is for this reason, along with my morals and beliefs, that DBH will continue to be an inclusive vendor for all couples. Not to be performative or to drive profits during Pride month and around Juneteenth, but to celebrate the beautiful celebrations of love. We believe in love, period.
