After over 35 years of dangerously hot kitchens, slightly tilted, slick concrete floors, 80 # stockpots, everything sharp or on fire…My body is finally wearing out😳

I’m staring down the barrel of a couple of pretty serious surgeries, consecutively over the next couple months. I just want to make sure my family can stay strong all the way through. I’d appreciate the help!

Old School BBQ Chicken…
Not smoked, grilled… over low coals. Turned countless times. Then lacquered with a tangy-spicy sauce. Crispy skin, juicy insides, ridiculously flavorful!

Smoked Turkey Pozole:
Smoked turkey wings/thighs/legs from last season (freezer find!). Onions, home canned -chicken stock, salsa verde & tomatillos from our farmstead pantry. Hominy, cilantro & spices. Simmered/served & topped with the usual suspects (sans cabbage)😊

A hearty soup that feels light. Spicy, tangy, rich & totally delish.

Date nights hit different when you get a little older. Gone are the days of tequila shots, dive bars & late nights.
Now it’s flowers for planting, vegetable & herb starts for the farmstead & a glass of wine with a view, home by 8:00 (we used to just get ready to go at eight!)
I still roll with a better person than I could have ever dreamed of. She’s still a stone cold beauty. Smarter than me, marginally funnier than me…I am a very, very lucky man!
