I have never disliked folding fitted sheets as much as I do now as a B&B owner.

I was taught to fold the cantankerous fitted sheet her way. Of course, two people make it a very easy task.

Martha Stewart has taught a lot of people a lot of things over the years. Happy 84th Birthday Martha Stewart! May your folded sheets always lay square.

Good morning from Oklahoma! It is 71°on August 3, 2025. I like it!

A friend of mine in my Sunday School class at church gave this to me as a gift to use in my Bed and Breakfast. I think of her and the ladies in my class often. I miss them so much. Even though I still live in Oklahoma, and I am only an hour and a half away, it is hard to "go see them" when you own a bed and breakfast. So, I will cherish this tray and think of them every time I use it.

Thanks Cindy Vernon Burns! I appreciate the gift and it is very useful at the B&B. I have used it often in the last 3 years.

Ok, they got me. They got me good.

I had a reservation for Debbie who was going to bring her friend for a surprise lunch, aka tea party, and tour the B&B.

I was a little skeptical because Debbie would only communicate via email, didnt reserve with a credit card, and her friend had a list of food allergies. Possible red flags, but maybe not.

I googled Debbie on FB and we had a mutual friend. That makes sense, Judy always said she wanted to come see the house...but it just wasnt "adding up" because I knew Judy didnt have all of those food allergies.

They got me good!! It was Judy and Tammi!! Not "Debbie" and "Lynne." 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Good one! Well played ladies. Well played. I loved sitting around the table and visiting with you. And I miss you guys too!!

You made my day! Thanks for coming to see me and supporting my business and dream.

You encouraged my heart today! Thanks for the gifts too! They are perfect. I love you guys!

Connie came to stay at the Southard House for four days. She does a lot of genealogy and ancestory research. She is related to George Franklin Southard, the builder of the Southard House. It was cool to hear the stories about her efforts and read the results of her research. She has a copy of a newsletter that talks about Frank and Lilla the original owners of the Southard House in 1910.

Connie was also able to spend some precious time with family. She drove around Enid to see if she could find the houses she used to live in. That's a pretty good memory. Connie is 80 and doesn't look a day over 60. I hope I'm like Connie if I make it to 80.

I hope the library microfiche and ancestery.com along with the others bring you new revelations in your rearch Connie. Happy hunting!

Thanks for being my guest at the Southard House.

Cameron and Melanie drove in from the Oklahoma City metro to stay at the Southard House. Turns out we have a mutual acquaintenance-Terry Taylor. It's a small world.

My guests came to Enid to watch a play at the Gaslight Theater called "The Drowsy Chaperone." It is a mix of a musical and comedy. They said the play was really cute and they enjoyed it. It's not to late to go see it tonight.

And sometimes, the world gets even smaller. My friend Shelley wrote an article about the Southard House in the Caregiver Magazine. I have a copy in each room. Turns out Cameron and Melanie go to church with the couple on the front of the magazine. WOW! That is so cool how all the dots connect in this story.

Leo and Cloris Webster are amazing people. They are a powerhouse couple serving their community after retirement. Mr. Webster, a Veteran himself, saw a need in his church so he and his wife created "VET CHAT." The group meets every second Saturday for coffee and donuts at Cornerstone Church, 15th and Post Rd in Midwest City. All Veterans are welcome to attend.

Checkout the Caregiver Magazine to read "the rest of the story" about the Websters. They are an amazing couple.

People always ask "What is there to do in Enid? Why do people come to Enid?

Well, Matthew and Lori came in from Kansas to hang out for one night. They went out to dinner and hung out at Enid Brewery for a while. Enid has a great live music scene. Anyway, they got up the next morning, enjoyed some coffee in bed while watching golf on TV, enjoyed a nice breakfast, and headed back to Kansas.

Thanks Matthew and Lori. I appreciate you choosing Southard House Bed and Breakfast for your night out. Please come back any time.

NOTE: return guests get a 10% discount one one night's stay.

Erin and Kaci enjoyed a mother-daughter weekend get-a-way and Southard House Bed and Breakfast was their base for the weekend.

Kaci is a pilot in training at VAFB here in Enid. She greatly needed some respite from her hectic schedule and recent move.

Mom was in from New Mexico to hang out, shop, and visit with her daughter.

They packed in a lot in a short amount of time over the weekend and Kaci was able to sleep in on the last day. I'm tellin ya, that bed in Suite Royalty will hold you hostage in a good way. It is so comfortable.

Kaci and Erin were very sweet. I enjoy visiting with people, offering encouragement when I can, and pampering them during their stay. A smile, a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or a sweet treat can go a long way when someone is battling cancer, or has a demanding work schedule and just need a recharge to get back in the fight.

I hope everyone always feels welcomed, encouraged, and pampered after they leave the Southard House.

Kaci, I dont know what the Air Force lingo is for pilots in training, but I hope you graduate at the top of your class, and become an ace pilot. Good luck!

I have been so busy lately, I haven't posted about my recent guests.

A few weeks ago, a husband and wife came to Enid from Tennessee, to work the Remote Area Medical Clinic. The clinic provided free health care in vision, dental, and medical care to the community of Enid. The RAM event served 372 people in our community. I am so thankful for all of the volunteers that travel long distances and give up their free time to help with this much needed clinic.

As usual, I visited with my guests. We talked about the healthcare system in the US. The unhoused populations all over, and how medical care is being limited by Big Pharma and insurance companies. We talked about a lot of societal problems, but sadly we were not able to save the world sitting at the dining room table. However, we did agree that we can make a big difference for people in our own community if we make the effort.

I love meeting people with a servant's heart, and Steve and Kay Phillips meet the qualifications. We all benefit from their efforts. Thank you! Cheers to many more future RAM clinics!
