Today is the wedding day of my sweet niece, Allie, and her soon-to-be husband, Logan.
It’s hard to put into words what this day means. These two have loved each other for nearly seven years, growing up side by side and building a foundation that has led them here. Somewhere along the way, Logan stopped feeling like “Allie’s boyfriend” and simply became family. I love him no differently than I love her, and watching them begin this new chapter together makes my heart swell.
Today I’ll wear a few different hats, but one of them will be standing behind my camera, capturing one of the most important days of their lives. Being on this side of the lens during a wedding is such a gift. I notice things. I see things.
I see two families becoming one because of the love shared between two people and doing their best to make it beautiful as a team.
I see excitement and anticipation. I see nervous smiles and happy tears. I see a mother’s heart holding tightly to memories while learning to let go. I see the pride in a father’s eyes. I see parents releasing their children into a new season with that little bit of worry in the pit of their stomach. I see a groom’s trembling hands as he slips a ring onto his bride’s finger. I see moments that can never be recreated and emotions that deserve to be remembered forever.
There is something incredibly beautiful about a wedding day—the rawness, the joy, the sacredness of two lives being joined together. My prayer is that I can capture not just what today looks like, but what it feels like.
I’m also so thankful for Ashley, who always comes alongside me on wedding days. Her talent, heart, and friendship are such a blessing, and she helps make these moments even more special.
Rain or shine, today will be beautiful because it’s not about the weather—it’s about the promise being made.
Most of all, I pray that God richly blesses Allie and Logan as they begin their marriage. May He be the center of their home, their foundation in every season, and the One who continually weaves their two lives together into one beautiful story.
What a privilege it is to witness it.
