More progress on the bus this weekend. I painted the remaining rims to match the new one since I like the gray color much better than the black. I also got both generators mounted on the rear platforms and strapped down with boat transom straps. They hold them nice and secure, and they work great!

One more step closer to getting the bus finished and out serving food.

I've been a little quiet on Facebook lately because it's been a busy few weeks!

I kicked things off in Elmwood in front of Bits and Pieces on Friday, June 12, serving lunch during the community garage sales. The next day, June 13, I was at the Springfield Fairgrounds for Springfield Days with the hot dog cart, and then on Sunday, June 28, I was back in Springfield at the Legion Hall for the Springfield Farmers Market.

It's been great getting out, meeting so many wonderful people, and serving up hot dogs and brats. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to grab a bite and support Danny's Street Eats & Catering!

I'd also like to give a special shoutout to the guys who helped me load up after Springfield Days. Your help was greatly appreciated and made the end of a long day a whole lot easier. Thank you!

One of the bus tires and rims had definitely taken a hard hit from a curb before I bought it. The rim was bent, and the tire had a pretty good gouge in it. I finally got it taken care of a couple of weeks ago with two brand-new tires installed and the others rotated.

It feels great knowing I don't have to worry about the tires anymore—one less thing to think about as I get the bus ready for the road!

I also had to laugh because the bus almost didn't fit through the door at Discount Tire. It was a tight squeeze, but the crew made it work and took great care of me.

A big thank you to the team at Discount Tire for their excellent service. I really appreciate all the help!

🌭 I'll be serving up hot dogs, brats, and jalapeño cheddar smoked sausages tomorrow from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in front of Bits & Pieces in Elmwood.

I'll be at the Springfield Fairgrounds this Saturday, June 13, from 4:00–9:00 PM for Springfield Days! Since the bus isn't quite ready yet, I'll be serving from the hot dog cart instead.

Come check out the car show, enjoy the festivities, and grab a bite to eat. I'll have hot dogs, smoked brats, and jalapeño cheddar brats available.

More progress on the bus! I purchased a hoist so I can safely load and unload the two generators onto the rear racks by myself. At 150 pounds each, they're a little more than I want to wrestle with manually—and I'd like to keep my back intact!

My neighbor Jon also helped me test the bus's electrical system. Everything worked well, except I discovered that one of the cables used to parallel the generators together is a bit too short once they're mounted on the racks, so I'll need to modify that.

I also sealed up some openings with mouse-proof spray foam to help keep unwanted passengers out. 🐭🚫

Next on the checklist: testing the water system. Fingers crossed that everything works as planned! 🚍🔧

Finally found some time to work on the bus again! I added padding in a few spots so taller folks won't bump their heads, and I shimmed the generator platforms to get them level. I also got the tables secured—what a job that was. Drilling all those holes was definitely not my favorite part!

The plumbing is now finished, except for leak testing (fingers crossed 🤞). I drilled the opening for the propane hose to the water heater as well. Unfortunately, my spray foam didn't cooperate when it came time to seal around the hose, so I'll need to pick up another can and give it another shot.

It's great to see things continuing to come together! 🚌🔧⚙️

Today, with the invaluable support of Nathan Brettmann, I successfully installed the propane tank bracket and applied reflective tape to the generator brackets, marking more progress. Thanks Nate!
