Always Remember. Yesterday, marking the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. Like so many others, I remember the exact moment. I received a call from my Regional Director telling me not to come in to the office. Per usual, I was rushing around trying to get out the door and into Chicago rush hour traffic so I hadn't even had the radio or television on to hear anything. He uttered the words "we are under attack. Turn on the news." It was hard to grasp. I thought about getting on the road to be with my parents (a 3 hour drive) ... but paralyzed by what might be next. It didn't seem real. I was fortunate to visit the memorial in NY at Ground Zero in 2016. Although, I didn't lose friends or family during this horrific attack you could not help but feel something so incredibly personal when reading the names of the fallen and hearing the peaceful sound of water passing through the reflecting pools. Yesterday Fire Station 2 in Elmhurst Illinois did not forget to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11/01. I listened to personal accounts of individuals who were there is real time, boots on the ground helping save lives. It was a beautiful tribute to show we do remember.
