📣 LONG POST ALERT - PLEASE READ 📣
Yesterday morning, during our church service, Josh Johnson gave us an amazing message about the Good Samaritan in Luke 10. I’d just like to share a little of what that message meant to me and how it spoke to my heart….
If you don’t know that story, I encourage you to read it! The gist of it is Jesus was talking to a lawyer about how to love your neighbor. Jesus told him the story of a man that was beaten, robbed, and left for dead on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. Many “religious people/leaders” passed him by and left him. The Samaritan came by and showed him compassion.
Josh went on to make 3 points of what it took for the Samaritan to show compassion and restore this man. The Samaritan was involved (he chose to help when others didn’t), invested (he used his own time, money, etc to help), and he was inconvenienced (he stopped what he was doing, maybe had to go without because of his helping this man, etc.).
I don’t think Josh planned that message to speak to me the way it did, but God definitely did.
YOU ALL are the Good Samaritans. Every jeeper, every vendor, every volunteer, every sponsor. YOU were INVOLVED in JBR - you showed up, helped out, rode the ride, and did all the things. YOU were invested - you spent your time and your money to come out, you bought shirts, wrote checks, donated raffle items. YOU were inconvenienced - it was a whopping 95° with an even higher heat index and a UV index of 10; yet you showed up, hung out, fellowshipped.
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU were/are the Good Samaritan to show compassion and help restore our veterans!! For that, thank you! Thank you for being a part of furthering God’s Kingdom. We appreciate you all more than you know!!
Sincerely,
Lesley McKenzie
