CHANGE OF DATE:
A quick update on our You Are My Sunshine fundraiser…
I was planning to spend April 27 capturing beautiful moments for families, something I obviously love doing, but I also want to honor a friend by attending their Celebration of Life that same day. It’s never easy when personal and professional priorities overlap.
While we won't be holding the full event this spring, anyone already booked will still be photographed as scheduled, your session times do not interfere with the celebration, and I’m looking forward to our time together.
With Mother’s Day and Memorial Day weekends just ahead, it’s been nearly impossible to find a new date this season. So we’ll shift this special event to the fall, when the weather is just as beautiful.
I’m so grateful to Zaching Against Cancer and the Howard County Conservancy for their understanding and support as we coordinate this date change. Their partnership means the world, and I can’t wait to bring this event to life together later this year.
Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support of Zaching Against Cancer.
Stay tuned, more to come as we plan for a truly meaningful and joyful day this fall.

Brenda McGregor | Life, Career, and Leadership Coach | Speaker | “If Only” Podcast Host

From the moment I met Brenda, I knew she was someone special. Each time we connect, I learn more about her, her family, and the incredible mission she’s built. Her story is one of resilience, transformation, and an unwavering commitment to making a difference.

“My journey has been rich with milestones, including becoming more comfortable in my own skin as I age,” Brenda shares. “I am deeply grateful for my glass-half-full mindset, which has helped me embrace every twist and turn on my path. From my first marriage at 19 and becoming a mother at 21, to remarrying in 2004 and welcoming three daughters, and then becoming a guardian to a 15-year-old young man from the inner city who needed an advocate, my life has been a testament to curiosity, growth, and transformation. I have transitioned from being a mother to one child to loving five children and nine grandchildren. Each of them has, in their own unique way, provided me with some of my most significant life lessons.”

Her professional journey is just as inspiring. She built and led the HR department at a mid-size hospitality company, became a trusted partner to ownership and consistently delivered on her company’s values and mission. “I am most proud of establishing and leading that department,” she says. “It allowed me to create a culture of collaboration, support, and growth.” Her leadership fostered a holistically healthy department, with a specialized focus on Risk Management and Coaching. And, she accomplished all of this without a college degree.

Beyond her career, Brenda’s passion for mentorship and community shines through. Whether guiding young entrepreneurs at Elizabeth Seton High School, supporting DeMatha Catholic High School football players, or pouring love into her grandchildren, she finds inspiration in the next generation. Her connection to DeMatha football runs deep, her husband, Bill, has been coaching there for years, dedicating his time to shaping young athletes both on and off the field. Brenda has embraced this role as well, offering unwavering support to the players and becoming a steadfast presence in their lives.“ Their passion is contagious,” she says. “I often wish we could bottle it up and share it with those who feel worn down by life’s challenges.”

Her mission extends even further through her podcast, If Only, where she amplifies stories of women who have broken through barriers to achieve their dreams. She also offers coaching programs designed to help women step into their full potential and create lives they love.

Getting to know Brenda has been an absolute privilege. Her wisdom, warmth, and dedication to uplifting others are truly remarkable. I can’t wait to see the impact she continues to make! She loves life, and it’s obvious life loves her! 💝

Marie Ritzenberg | 43 | Mortgage Advisor

One of the greatest rewards of my work is helping people put their best face forward, whether through headshots and branding photos that elevate their professional presence, family portraits that capture love and connection, senior sessions that celebrate milestones, or bo***ir photography that empowers women to see their own beauty and strength. Just as meaningful, though, are the connections I build along the way, clients who become friends. When Marie reached out, we had only known of each other, and through our initial phone call, design consultation, and photoshoot, I got to know her better and truly enjoyed every moment working with her. It was a true joy to learn about Marie’s story, her passions, and her vision, and to see how those elements came to life through our time together.

As a woman who has embraced every stage of life with confidence and grace, Marie’s perspective on beauty has evolved over the years.
"When I was younger, I often equated beauty with physical appearance: flawless skin, a perfect figure, the latest fashion trends," she reflects. "I sought validation from the world around me, measuring my worth against those ideals."

Today, her definition of beauty is far more profound. It’s about confidence, kindness, and authenticity. "The glow of self-acceptance shines brighter than any makeup could," she says. "I’ve realized that vulnerability can be beautiful too, and that sharing my authentic self creates connections that are far more meaningful than surface-level compliments."

For Marie, beauty is about embracing who she is, inside and out, and appreciating the journey that has shaped her. She hopes to pass this perspective on to her children, encouraging them to recognize beauty in themselves and the world around them.

Marie’s impact doesn’t stop there. She’s passionate about helping others build wealth and security through homeownership. "A stable home is often the first step toward building wealth and community," she explains. She believes in educating and empowering individuals to navigate homeownership, from first-time buyers to seasoned investors.

Through mentorship, workshops, and advocacy, Marie is making a difference, helping people achieve financial milestones that shape their futures. "Ultimately, my goal is to help people build a foundation for success. Their excitement shows me that I’ve made a positive impact in their lives."

Marie’s story is one of transformation, empowerment, and purpose, proving that beauty isn’t just something we see; it’s something we create through the way we live and uplift others. 💝

Kristi Simon | President & CEO of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce

I've had the pleasure of knowing Kristi Simon for years, and one thing is clear, she is a leader in every sense of the word. As President & CEO of the Howard County Chamber, she leads with vision, integrity, and a deep commitment to those she serves. I’ve seen her approach challenges with both foresight and adaptability, proactively creating opportunities. At the same time, she responds with fairness and balance when needed. She is a connector, a problem-solver, and a champion for businesses and nonprofits alike. It’s no surprise that she has earned the respect of so many in our community.

Kristi never imagined when she first got involved with HCCC nearly 20 years ago that she’d one day be leading the organization. But through hard work, loyalty, and always putting others first, she has become the kind of leader who truly makes a difference. “I get so much joy from supporting business owners and non-profits in our region,” she shares, and it’s clear she means it.

Growing up on a farm in Carroll County with hardworking parents, Kristi learned early on the value of perseverance. She’s spent the last 20 years deepening her expertise in leadership, association management, and organizational development, all while giving back. She serves on numerous boards, advisory councils, and committees throughout the Greater Baltimore region and still finds time to volunteer with local charities.

Her perspective on aging has evolved, too. After dealing with difficulty and loss early in life, she felt like aging was just unfortunate and inevitable. “…but my 40s have brought me clarity, purpose, strength, and overwhelming gratitude.” She encourages women to speak up, trust their ideas, and embrace the power of lifting others. Kristi loves this stage of life and feels fortunate to be at a place where she can prioritize family, friends, and personal time while thriving in her career and giving back to her community. Kristi urges women to trust the value of their voices, personally and professionally. “Speak up, because your influence is needed,” she says. She also reminds women that lifting others, bringing them joy, and celebrating their wins will never be time wasted.

When she’s not making an impact in the business world, Kristi is happiest on the water with her family or planning her next adventure. I’m so grateful to call her a friend, our conversations are always meaningful, full of laughter, and leave me thinking in new ways. She is a force for good in this community and beyond, and I’m lucky to know her.

Angie Tersiguel | 44 | Co-owner Tersiguel's French Country Restaurant

Some people just get it. Angela Tersiguel is one of them. She’s a leader, a giver, a powerhouse, a problem solver, and someone I am proud to call a friend. Since moving my studio to Ellicott City's Main Street in 2012, I’ve watched her juggle business, family, and community with unwavering strength and grace. 💝

As co-owner of Tersiguel's French Country Restaurant with her husband, Michel, Angie has kept a legacy alive through the best and worst of times. Their restaurant was shut down three times in four years. First by the devastating floods of 2016 and 2018, then again when COVID brought everything to a halt. But Angie? She showed up, rebuilt, and led with determination. With everything else on her plate, she even served as President of the Ellicott City Partnership, advocating for our town when it needed her most.

She once told me, “Aging isn’t bad, it’s exceptional. It’s wisdom, character, and the glorious freedom to embrace who we are.” That’s Angie. She speaks her mind, sets boundaries, and pours herself into raising her sons with kindness and strength. “The most important title I carry is mom. It’s the hardest, most rewarding, often laughable, sometimes frustrating work I have done. And while my time as a ‘day-to-day mom’ is shifting, I’ve spent the last four years learning who I am beyond that role.”

She is real. She is brilliant. And, let’s face it, she can rock ANY hair style! She is one of the best people you’ll ever meet. 💛 Cheers to you, Angie!

If you haven’t been to Tersiguel’s French Country Restaurant yet, what are you waiting for? Located at 8293 Main Street in beautiful Ellicott City, it’s the perfect spot for special occasions or just because. You owe it to yourself to go...many times. I can’t pronounce most things on the menu, but if it were polite to lick my plate clean, I would.😉

As part of our 40 Over 40 Experience, I’m honored to have Mary Jordan, owner of Bra-La-La, and Mary beth Dulin, Mary Kay Independant Beauty Consultant, makeup extraordinaire, join me in this special project. I love these behind-the-scenes photos...together, we are representing the 40s, 50s, and 60s. Throughout this project, it’s been my privilege to photograph more than 40 incredible women who have shared their stories of gratitude, strength, and resilience. Stories that inspire others and serve as a powerful reminder that every woman is worthy of being seen, celebrated, and valued at every stage of life. 💝

This project isn’t just about portraits, it’s about redefining beauty, embracing confidence, breaking the stigma of aging, and showing the world that growing older is a privilege, not something to hide. Each woman’s journey is a testament to the power of experience, wisdom, and self-love. Their stories will inspire others to embrace their own strength and recognize the beauty in every chapter of life. Beyond that, this project is also a fundraiser, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center Foundation, supporting vital healthcare services in our community. 💝

Spotlight on Ella – A Star in the Making!

We absolutely love photographing high school seniors and capturing this exciting milestone! While we’ve been celebrating our incredible 40 Over 40 women, we’re just as passionate about creating unforgettable portraits for our seniors, like Ella, a gifted and inspiring young lady I’ve had the honor of photographing for years.

Meet Ella: a fabulously talented, kind, and beautiful young woman. From updating her acting portfolio to creating her stunning senior portraits this year, I’ve watched her shine, both on stage and in life.

Ella isn’t just an academic powerhouse, she’s a true performer, with an impressive list of acting credentials already under her belt. Her dedication, grace, and passion for her craft are truly inspiring. Getting to know her has been a privilege, and through her photoshoots, I’ve also had the joy of deepening my friendship with her incredible family. Her parents and grandparents are some of my favorite people, and it’s been heartwarming to watch Karen and Stephen pour kindness, support, and love into their extraordinary family.

During Ella’s design consultation, we mapped out the details of her senior session, ensuring it reflected who she is and what’s most important to her. The result? A collection of portraits that capture her personality, her artistry, and her bright future ahead. She loved the vibe at Backwater Books, had fun in the studio under stage lights, and enjoyed a beautiful fall day in Patapsco State Park.

Ella, I can’t wait to watch you take the world by storm. I’ll be one of the first in line to buy a ticket to your Broadway debut! Keep shining, keep dreaming, keep doing, and keep being the amazing person you are.

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Ella, she’s destined for greatness!" 💝

Dolly Bermudez | Apprenticeship Coordinator for the Howard County Office of Workforce Development

Some people shine wherever they go, and Dolly Bermudez is one of them. I had the pleasure of meeting Dolly while we were both serving on a Respite Retreats committee, and from the start, I could see she has a servant’s heart, always giving, uplifting, and bringing her signature warmth to every conversation.

As Apprenticeship Coordinator for the Howard County Office of Workforce Development, Dolly is passionate about connecting businesses with job seekers, ensuring both have the tools to succeed. But her journey is anything but ordinary, she’s worked in corporate banking in South America, taught college students in Mexico, and now leads a bilingual program in Maryland!

With two bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Advertising, Dolly’s expertise runs deep. She also serves as Executive Director of The Language & Cultural Club, inspiring children to embrace bilingualism and shaping the next generation of leaders.

"I hope my journey encourages other women to chase their goals, embrace their unique stories, and never shy away from making an impact."

On a personal level, Dolly is a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She’s the kind of person who listens with intention and speaks with wisdom. Her 40 Over 40 portrait session was extra special because she shared it with her son when he came in for his senior portraits, a moment that perfectly reflects her deep love for family.

"Life isn’t about following one straight path, it’s about embracing every experience and using it to build something meaningful."

Dolly, you inspire so many!

Our 40 Over 40 Project is a celebration of strength, beauty, and wisdom. We're highlighting 40+ incredible women over the age of 40, their journeys and the impact they make in their families, careers, and communities. Through powerful portraits and personal stories, we’re redefining the way the world sees aging, because getting older isn’t something to hide, it’s something to celebrate! This project is also about giving back. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center Foundation, supporting vital healthcare programs in our community.

Suzanne Simpson | 61 | Owner, Attorney, and Counselor at Law at Simpson Law, PA

It was such a joy getting to know Suzanne better during her 40 Over 40 Experience! Meeting her husband and daughter, and working with her amazing team, made the day truly special. Suzanne added an extra element of connection by turning her session into a team-building experience. We coordinated makeup application with Mary beth, updated everyone’s headshots, captured team photos, and created branding images. I also had the pleasure of photographing Suzanne and her husband together, such a beautiful couple! Her husband owns East Coast Landscape Design, a company known for its incredible work. It was easy to see how their shared passion for excellence fuels their success.

Suzanne founded Simpson Law, PA in 2003 to take control of the clients she serves and the cases she handles. “I firmly believe that taking the time to self-reflect on what works for you ultimately increases your happiness and benefits your clients and loved ones,” she shares. Through her practice, Suzanne provides compassionate, convenient, and comprehensive estate planning, probate, and trust administration services to busy parents, professionals, and retirees. Her dedication to her clients, team, and family is truly inspiring! Suzanne is a 2025 Maryland Super Lawyer, a testament to her exceptional legal expertise and commitment to her clients.

Through the years, Suzanne has learned the value of setting boundaries and trusting her intuition. “Early on, I sometimes took on cases that weren’t the best emotional fit. I’d ruminate over them even during my personal time,” she explains. One vivid memory is of the Newport Jazz Festival in 1993, where she found herself preoccupied with a client’s divorce case instead of enjoying the music. Through self-discovery, Suzanne has learned to prioritize her emotional well-being and focus on her passions and challenges outside of work.

Suzanne’s advice to women entrepreneurs is to value their worth. “You worked hard to gain the knowledge you share and deserve to be paid well. Research industry standards and confidently announce your price.” She also emphasizes the importance of kindness and patience with your team, noting that mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow.

Thank you, Suzanne, for giving me a glimpse into the incredible life you’ve built. Your dedication to your family, clients, team, and community is truly inspiring!
