Kristi Simon | President & CEO of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce
I've had the pleasure of knowing Kristi Simon for years, and one thing is clear, she is a leader in every sense of the word. As President & CEO of the Howard County Chamber, she leads with vision, integrity, and a deep commitment to those she serves. I’ve seen her approach challenges with both foresight and adaptability, proactively creating opportunities. At the same time, she responds with fairness and balance when needed. She is a connector, a problem-solver, and a champion for businesses and nonprofits alike. It’s no surprise that she has earned the respect of so many in our community.
Kristi never imagined when she first got involved with HCCC nearly 20 years ago that she’d one day be leading the organization. But through hard work, loyalty, and always putting others first, she has become the kind of leader who truly makes a difference. “I get so much joy from supporting business owners and non-profits in our region,” she shares, and it’s clear she means it.
Growing up on a farm in Carroll County with hardworking parents, Kristi learned early on the value of perseverance. She’s spent the last 20 years deepening her expertise in leadership, association management, and organizational development, all while giving back. She serves on numerous boards, advisory councils, and committees throughout the Greater Baltimore region and still finds time to volunteer with local charities.
Her perspective on aging has evolved, too. After dealing with difficulty and loss early in life, she felt like aging was just unfortunate and inevitable. “…but my 40s have brought me clarity, purpose, strength, and overwhelming gratitude.” She encourages women to speak up, trust their ideas, and embrace the power of lifting others. Kristi loves this stage of life and feels fortunate to be at a place where she can prioritize family, friends, and personal time while thriving in her career and giving back to her community. Kristi urges women to trust the value of their voices, personally and professionally. “Speak up, because your influence is needed,” she says. She also reminds women that lifting others, bringing them joy, and celebrating their wins will never be time wasted.
When she’s not making an impact in the business world, Kristi is happiest on the water with her family or planning her next adventure. I’m so grateful to call her a friend, our conversations are always meaningful, full of laughter, and leave me thinking in new ways. She is a force for good in this community and beyond, and I’m lucky to know her.
