End-of-summer reading: The Common Good style 🏖️📚

We’re looking forward to book clubbing this one with NY-51 Democratic Senate candidate Michele Frazier for 51. Even if you haven’t read the book (or finished it!), it’s a great opportunity to come together with neighbors and talk about some of the divides—political, cultural, and otherwise—that shape our nation and our communities, with someone interested in finding ways to bridge them.

We’ve just restocked “The Rural Voter,” and it’s available in the shop for 10% off.

🗓️Join us September 16 at 5:30 PM for a meaningful, and productive conversation with our community. Everyone is welcome. ❤️

Hard to overstate how excited we are for this double bill...Marianne Osiel could share the stage with any act around the world. Her songs are timeless, roots-rock based, and delivered with an energy, attitude, and sparkle that is all her own. And we've been trying to get School GirlCrush to play our stage since she started recording! So to have them both on one bill is just quite special. Make sure you've got a seat in the front for this one ✨

Who’s the real star this week? 👀🏆

Let us know!

Matt’s been enjoying the award-winning Kaaterskill IPA from West Kill Brewing and the new novel by Paul Yoon, “Etna.”

His shelf talker reads…”An epic, hero’s journey, with a talking dog at the center. Taken from his idyllic coastal home and trained for war, he longs to return after years of combat and trauma. And that’s just the beginning of his journey! If Tim O’Brien wrote about dogs, it might read as wondrous as this.”

📘🛸Join us this Saturday, August 8, from 4–5 PM, as author Meg Charlton visits The Common Good to talk about her debut work, Voyagers, and sign books. If you’re already coming to the Blueberry Festival, just swing through afterward! 🫐

Matthew take:

An incident in the Palm Springs desert. Perhaps extraterrestrial, perhaps something else. Voyagers is a story how, for better and for worse, this moment in Alex and Ana’s youth came to define them, shaping their families, relationships, and paths to adulthood. An absorbing tale about the long shadows of childhood, and the weight of the stories we tell ourselves about it. On friendship, aliens, and the end of the world, Meg Charlton’s debut is a great add to your summer reading list. 📚
