If you recognize ANY of these beautiful, brave and talented women - contact them right NOW and offer your congratulations, encouragement and support!
In a time (I encounter my high school bullies •30 years later• and STILL experience trepidation!) where these youngsters face IMMENSE pressure, social media dictates how they should dress, music influences their language and style, their makeup has to be perfectly blended and flawless, they’re hearing messages confusing worth with ideal weight, and the expectation that they should be prioritizing future goals or they’re not ‘focused’ - not to mention the demands of academic, extracurricular AND scholarship obligations. (How did we survive?)
I wish they could see what I see in ALL of them and ask for you to take a moment of your time to recognize this too.
Please build these beautiful young women up today. YOUR influence could be the voice they hear a week from now, years later or even decades down the road. It matters; TRUST ME.
They were all SO brave to put their name in this hat. Their talent, their poise (they’re mostly sophomores and some looked like they were professionally trained!) their smiles that hid their obvious nervousness and uncertainty - how proud I am for ALL of these beautiful women.
Elizabethton High School should be elated to have been represented so professionally last night and I think they ALL won a piece of my 15-year old heart that cries out to them and says, “YOU ARE ENOUGH.” ❤️
