🌳 A BIG THANK YOU TO UNDERCUTTER TREE SERVICES! 🌳

We want to give a massive shoutout to LE at Undercutter Tree Services for coming out to take a look at the beautiful oak tree in our backyard! 🏡✨

LE took the time to share his incredible knowledge and expertise, giving us a clear plan to protect, preserve, and save this majestic tree for years to come.

When you’re caring for a historic property, preserving the character of the grounds is just as important as the house itself. We are so grateful to LE for answering all of our questions, offering expert recommendations, and sharing his wisdom with us.

Thank you, LE and Undercutter Tree Services, for being such a wonderful resource for our community! 🌳❤️

🔥 A Glimpse Into the Past… 🏡

As we continue restoring The Historic Pool-Lumsden-Peters House, every room seems to reveal another piece of its story.

This large fireplace opening is located in what is believed to have been the original kitchen of the home, dating back to around 1840. Before modern appliances, this may have been where meals were prepared over an open fire. Later, it may have even housed a cast-iron wood-burning cookstove connected to the home’s large chimney.

Imagine generations gathered here as meals were cooked, bread was baked, water was heated, and family stories were shared around the warmth of the hearth.

One of the most exciting parts of restoring a historic home is uncovering these hidden pieces of history and imagining what life was like nearly two centuries ago.

💬 We’d love to hear from you!

Have you ever seen a fireplace like this? Do you think it was used as an open cooking hearth, or do you believe a wood-burning cookstove once sat inside it? If you have knowledge of historic homes, old family stories, or restoration experience, we’d love for you to share your thoughts in the comments.

Every conversation helps us preserve the incredible history of this beautiful home.
