Today at the North Pole, we’re celebrating one of the most playful and lovable creatures in the animal kingdom — otters! Even the elves took a break from toy-making to watch a few otters slide across the ice and splash around like Christmas morning never ended.
Did you know otters hold hands while they sleep so they don’t drift apart? Now that’s the kind of friendship and togetherness Santa loves to see. ❤️

🦎🐾 Pets At The Pole! 🐾🦎
Today at the North Pole, we’re introducing one of our newest little reptile friends… a Leopard Gecko lovingly nicknamed “Solar Banana” — although the elves couldn't agree on a name! 🎄☀️🍌
Leopard Geckos are one of the most popular pet lizards in the world because of their gentle personalities and adorable smiles. Unlike many geckos, they have eyelids and can blink! They also store fat in their tails, which helps keep them healthy during lean times.
Here are a few fun facts from the North Pole Reptile Room: ❄️ Leopard Geckos are nocturnal, meaning they’re most active in the evening. ❄️ They communicate with chirps, squeaks, and tail movements. ❄️ With proper care, they can live 15–20 years or more!
Basic Leopard Gecko Care Tips: 🦗 They eat insects like crickets and mealworms. 🌡️ They need a warm habitat with both warm and cool sides to regulate body temperature. 🏠 Hides are very important so they feel safe and secure. 💧 Fresh water and proper humidity help them shed their skin properly.
The elves say Solar Banana is already an expert bug hunter and enjoys lounging under the heat lamp after a long day of “helping” in the toy workshop. 🎁

🎄 Ho ho ho! Did you know?
The tradition of hanging Christmas stockings may have started with Dutch children leaving shoes filled with treats for St. Nicholas’s horse. In return, they would wake up to small gifts and goodies tucked inside! 🐴🎁
Over time, those shoes became the stockings we hang by the fireplace today—ready for Santa to fill with holiday surprises.
It’s a wonderful reminder that kindness, generosity, and a little Christmas magic have been part of the season for centuries. ❤️✨

Back in 1955, a Sears advertisement accidentally printed the phone number for the Continental Air Defense Command—what we now know as NORAD—instead of Santa’s hotline. 📞❄️
Rather than turning children away, the officers on duty chose to play along, giving updates on Santa’s location as he traveled across the skies on Christmas Eve. And just like that, a magical tradition was born.

🐉 Pets at the Pole: Meet Charlie the Bearded Dragon! 🐉
Ho ho ho! Welcome back to another cozy edition of Pets at the Pole, where we introduce some of the amazing animal friends who call the North Pole home.
Today, I’d like you to meet a very special reptilian resident—Charlie the Bearded Dragon!
Charlie may not have fur like the reindeer or feathers like the snowy owls, but he is every bit as charming. With his gentle nature, curious personality, and delightfully expressive little face, Charlie has become a favorite visitor in Santa’s study.
🌞 Where Do Bearded Dragons Come From?
Bearded Dragons, often called “beardies,” come from the warm deserts and woodlands of Australia. They are named for the spiky scales under their chin, which puff out and darken when they feel excited or want to show off.
Charlie mostly uses his beard when he thinks he deserves an extra hornworm!
🏠 Basic Bearded Dragon Care
Taking care of a Bearded Dragon is a wonderful adventure, but they do have some important needs.
☀️ Heat and Light
Bearded Dragons need:
A warm basking spot around 95–105°F for adults
Ultraviolet UVB lighting to help their bodies use calcium and keep their bones strong
A cooler side of the enclosure so they can regulate their temperature
🥗 Diet
Charlie enjoys a healthy variety of foods:
Leafy greens like collard, mustard, and dandelion greens
Vegetables such as squash and bell peppers
Insects including crickets, dubia roaches, and mealworms (as treats)
Young dragons eat more insects, while adults like Charlie appreciate plenty of vegetables.
🛁 Hydration
Bearded Dragons get moisture from their food, but they also benefit from occasional baths and fresh water.
🪵 Habitat
Charlie lives in a spacious enclosure with:
Branches and rocks for climbing
A basking platform
Safe substrate
Cozy hiding places
🧡 Fun Bearded Dragon Facts
Beardies can wave one arm as a sign of submission.
They can flatten their bodies to soak up more warmth.
They often recognize their human caregivers.
Many enjoy sitting on shoulders and watching the world go by.
