Grief doesn’t always look like grief.

Sometimes it looks like going to work.
Making dinner.
Laughing at something funny.
Answering “I’m fine” and meaning it in that moment.

And sometimes, without warning, it feels like the loss happened yesterday.

There is no schedule for missing someone.
No deadline for being “okay.”
No right way to grieve someone you loved.

This National Grief Awareness Day, may we give ourselves, and each other, a little more grace.

Because you never really know what someone is carrying. 🤍

And for the families we have the privilege of serving, our care doesn’t end with the service. Grief support and resources are available as you navigate the days ahead.

There’s a reason “just a dog” never feels quite right.

Because they’re never "just" anything.

They’re the sound of paws coming to meet you at the door.

The shadow following you from room to room.

The warm spot beside you on a hard day.

The face somehow appearing the second you open a snack. ❤️

They’re there for the ordinary Tuesdays, the celebrations, the hard seasons and thousands of little moments we don’t realize are becoming memories.

And somewhere along the way, they become part of the family.

Today, on National Dog Day, we celebrate the dogs who fill our homes, our camera rolls—and a much bigger piece of our hearts than we ever expected. 🐾

Happy National Dog Day.

Some people leave behind more than songs, photographs, and memories.

They leave the world a little different because they were here.

For generations, Dolly Parton gave us music that became part of the soundtrack of our lives. But maybe her greatest legacy was the way she treated people… with warmth, humor, generosity, and a kindness that always seemed deeply genuine.

She dreamed big. She gave generously. She made people laugh. And she spent a lifetime finding ways to lift others along with her.

Today, we remember not only an extraordinary talent, but an extraordinary life.

Dolly Parton | 1946–2026

May the kindness she shared with the world continue for generations to come. 🤍

Grief is already enough to carry.

Families shouldn't have to carry every detail, every question and every decision alone, too.

That's why this recent review from L. Palmer meant so much to our team.

They described the care they received as “compassionate, professional, and thoughtful,” with every detail handled “with dignity and respect.”

But maybe the most meaningful part was what that care allowed their family to do:

Focus on each other.

Because when you lose someone you love, you shouldn't have to spend every moment worrying about what comes next.

You should have the space to simply be together.

There’s something you’ve never asked them.

Maybe it’s about the photo that’s been sitting on the shelf for 40 years.

Or the recipe nobody ever wrote down.

How they met.

What they were like at your age.

The story you've heard a hundred times, but never thought to ask more about.

Because we always think there will be more time.

Family history rarely disappears all at once.

It disappears one untold story at a time.

This Senior Citizens Day, ask the question.

Then listen.

Some funeral homes have a receptionist waiting to greet you.

At Baggerley, you might get someone a little furrier. 🐾

Just another member of the team making sure everyone who walks through our doors feels welcome.

And yes… belly rubs are probably accepted.

No one teaches you how to go to a funeral.

So you walk in wondering:

What do I say?
Where do I sit?
What if I cry?
What if I say the wrong thing?

Here’s something no one tells you:

You don’t have to be good at going to funerals.

You don’t need the perfect words.

You don’t need to know what to do with your hands or how long to stay.

And you definitely don’t have to hold back your tears.

Just show up.

Because years from now, the family probably won’t remember exactly what you said.

But they may remember that you were there, and that’s what matters.

A little Mamma Mia! movie night with our Lift group. 💙🎶
Sometimes healing looks like good food, lots of laughter, and simply being surrounded by people who understand. So grateful for this special group. ✨

Having a will doesn’t mean your family knows everything.

Your favorite song.

Whether you’d want to be buried or cremated.

Who you’d want to tell your story.

The little details that would make a service feel like you.

A lot of people believe they’ve “taken care of everything.”

Then, when the time comes, their family realizes how many deeply personal decisions are still left to make.

And suddenly, the people who love you most are asking:

“What would they have wanted?”

Planning ahead isn’t only about getting things in order.

It’s about making sure your family never has to guess.

If you’ve been thinking about pre-planning your own funeral, we’re here to help you start the conversation.

Have you ever thought about where your loved one’s urn will be 20 years from now?

Or 50?

Bringing someone’s ashes home can feel like the most natural thing in the world. You want them close.

But at some point, it’s worth asking another question:

Where will the people who love them go to remember them when your home is no longer theirs to visit?

That’s why a permanent place of remembrance can mean so much. It gives their name, their story, and the people who come after you a place to return to.

And if you have an urn at home, creating that place may be easier than you realize.

If you’ve been wondering what to do with an urn at home, talk with us. We’d be happy to show you the options.

Bringing them home doesn’t have to be the final decision. ❤️
