Good ( but emotional) story #2
A few years ago, there was a really tragic story about a young boy who was killed here in Erie. Shortly after, I got a call from his aunt. She had recently seen some funeral work AFA had done for a close friend of hers.. She and the family knew what they wanted to honor their son, nephew, brother, and cousin.... but not quitesure what could be made or done and needed guidance. So much time, many phone calls , texts and photos were put in to make the outcome match the vision. When she called the shop to place the order, she was clearly crushed and heartbroken, but I could still hear this incredible strength in her voice.
We had the honor of creating the floral arrangements for his services, and it was an absolute pleasure getting to meet his family and visit his church. I remember my own personal losses heavy on my mind as we drove up to the funeral home. But what I found inside was nothing short of inspirational. It was his family and friends, all together, preparing this young boy for his journey to heaven. Whether you are a believer or not, the feeling in that room was overwhelming. They were crying for their own loss, but at the exact same time, truly celebrating him going home.
I have always taken the assignment of creating the final tribute to a loved one very seriously. We take the time to talk to the family and include any personal touch to help make the memory more meaningful. This family, this church , their message and faith instilled that in me even deeper. I think about that boy and his family often and I am forever thankful to have been a small part of this beautiful memorial.

Good story #1
A woman called to send flowers to her mom on what would be her parents 65th anniversary. Her father had passed the year before and he had sent her mom flowers every year on their anniversary. I got to know him because he always came in person to order. Jeff and I both got to know her . Jeff from when he would deliver the flowers , and me when she came to order the funeral flowers for her husband.
I delivered the flowers to her on my way home. When she opened the door, she was so happy to see me and the flowers that she immediately knew were from her daughter who lived out of town. Her eyes teared up and she smiled at the same time. Looking at the arrangement and looking at me.
As if this wasn't touching enough, still smiling through the tears..... she said to me " be sure to hug that delivery man of yours.... he's a good one"

A few of my florist friends and I came up with this as we were sharing stories from over the years. This is just a couple of the reasons, but I'm going to be sharing real stories throughout the next weeks that touched my heart and remind me daily why I love my job!

Reasons to Buy From Your Local Florist

1. We carry a wide variety of flowers all year long. You never know when someone will walk through our door or call needing something special or specific. We keep a diverse selection on hand so we can create the arrangement you need.

2. We’re here when you need us—even when it’s hard. When the weather is terrible, the roads are icy, or temperatures are dangerously cold, we’re still sitting in our businesses, ready to help. Sometimes it’s not a huge order. Sometimes it’s a man who needs one single rose to take to the cemetery on his anniversary. Those moments matter to us.

3. We go wherever we need to go to bring you the freshest, highest-quality flowers. We source flowers locally whenever they’re available. We also purchase from growers throughout the United States and, when necessary, from other countries to make sure we can provide the freshest and best-quality flowers possible. Being a local florist doesn’t mean limited choices, it means having the knowledge and connections to find what you need.

4. Your money stays in your community. We live here. We work here. This is our full time gig. It's how we pay our mortgage and grocery bills. Our businesses pay local and state taxes, employ local people, and support other local businesses. When you shop with your local florist, you’re helping keep your community’s small businesses alive and thriving.

5. We give back because this is our community, too.Local florists donate flowers and arrangements to nursing homes, schools, community organizations, fundraisers, and local families whenever we can. We know our customers, we know our neighbors, and we’re here for the community, not just when there’s a holiday on the calendar.
