I. Had. Absolutely. No. Idea.

I was in the dark. The people immediately around us, like parents and close friends knew. And they all kept it from me. Like the greatest secret ever.

Cut to the day of the wedding where they had to get the truck to the church without me knowing. Josh was nervous enough about the wedding, but add in the extra weight of anxiety of pulling off this stunt. Josh's dad was key in this part, he's the one who left to go get it! He knew exactly how to park the truck to make it look real good😎

Without further ado, here's the video of me seeing it for the first time walking out of church, freshly married to the man who fixed my daddy's truck enough to make it drive. (We still have a ways to go on it).

Try not to look at my crying face🫣. Just focus on the bright red truck you see❤️🛻❤️🛻❤️

You may just think it simply says "DAD" on the seat cover, but there's a new meaning behind it:

I had thought it would be the best thing ever if we could get it done for the wedding and take pictures with it. To me, it would be like having a piece of my dad with me.

However, Josh was always busy with work and other projects. There was "no way" he said that he could do it in time. (Josh is a tractor mechanic and has always worked on his own vehicles).

Victor, as I like to call the truck, was essentially just the frame. It would be a huge undertaking for anyone to have it going by the wedding.

But then, Josh started thinking about that truck. "You don't know if you never try" was his thinking. Josh accepted the challenge of fixing Victor. He started taking the engine apart with help in November. He and a special few kept working on it up to a couple weeks before the wedding. Josh wouldn't of gotten it done without their help.

The video below shows all the hard work they put into Victor. The video itself was put together by Josh's brother and their dad❤️

I told my dad a couple months before I wanted his truck. ( We were blissfully unaware of what would happen in the next couple of months). I think I made him amused by me wanting it. But I think it made him happy knowing his daughter liked it that much.

So, the truck became mine.

I've tried to send the truck off to get it up and running, but it never worked out. It's been sitting in different places since 2018. I've always looked at it mournfully walking past it.

Happy Father's Day!!

My dad was the most rock 'n' rolling car guy movie buff person I knew. He only ever listened to his own DvDs he made himself with all the rock and roll music he loved. I grew up with him taking me to the movies and listening to all the "Oldies but Goodies," (what I call his music).

I also grew up sitting with him in his rusty blue step-side truck. Whenever it was my birthday or holiday, he'd pull out a present from behind the bench seat. In addition, I saw that truck roll down the driveway and him running at breakneck speed after it.

Years go by and one day he says he's going to remodel it. One day he showed me the truck with its new paint job. It was fire engine red with a white cab. He was proud to say the paint color was called "Victory Red." It was the brightest thing I'd ever seen. I bet anyone could see it from miles all around.

He had been ordering all the parts for it waiting for day to put it all together. But that day never came. He passed away October 2018.
