I. Had. Absolutely. No. Idea.

I was in the dark. The people immediately around us, like parents and close friends knew. And they all kept it from me. Like the greatest secret ever.

Cut to the day of the wedding where they had to get the truck to the church without me knowing. Josh was nervous enough about the wedding, but add in the extra weight of anxiety of pulling off this stunt. Josh's dad was key in this part, he's the one who left to go get it! He knew exactly how to park the truck to make it look real good😎

Without further ado, here's the video of me seeing it for the first time walking out of church, freshly married to the man who fixed my daddy's truck enough to make it drive. (We still have a ways to go on it).

Try not to look at my crying face🫣. Just focus on the bright red truck you see❤️🛻❤️🛻❤️

You may just think it simply says "DAD" on the seat cover, but there's a new meaning behind it:

I had thought it would be the best thing ever if we could get it done for the wedding and take pictures with it. To me, it would be like having a piece of my dad with me.

However, Josh was always busy with work and other projects. There was "no way" he said that he could do it in time. (Josh is a tractor mechanic and has always worked on his own vehicles).

Victor, as I like to call the truck, was essentially just the frame. It would be a huge undertaking for anyone to have it going by the wedding.

But then, Josh started thinking about that truck. "You don't know if you never try" was his thinking. Josh accepted the challenge of fixing Victor. He started taking the engine apart with help in November. He and a special few kept working on it up to a couple weeks before the wedding. Josh wouldn't of gotten it done without their help.

The video below shows all the hard work they put into Victor. The video itself was put together by Josh's brother and their dad❤️

I told my dad a couple months before I wanted his truck. ( We were blissfully unaware of what would happen in the next couple of months). I think I made him amused by me wanting it. But I think it made him happy knowing his daughter liked it that much.

So, the truck became mine.

I've tried to send the truck off to get it up and running, but it never worked out. It's been sitting in different places since 2018. I've always looked at it mournfully walking past it.

Happy Father's Day!!

My dad was the most rock 'n' rolling car guy movie buff person I knew. He only ever listened to his own DvDs he made himself with all the rock and roll music he loved. I grew up with him taking me to the movies and listening to all the "Oldies but Goodies," (what I call his music).

I also grew up sitting with him in his rusty blue step-side truck. Whenever it was my birthday or holiday, he'd pull out a present from behind the bench seat. In addition, I saw that truck roll down the driveway and him running at breakneck speed after it.

Years go by and one day he says he's going to remodel it. One day he showed me the truck with its new paint job. It was fire engine red with a white cab. He was proud to say the paint color was called "Victory Red." It was the brightest thing I'd ever seen. I bet anyone could see it from miles all around.

He had been ordering all the parts for it waiting for day to put it all together. But that day never came. He passed away October 2018.

It's been one week since Josh and I committed ourselves to each other! One week since Josh surprised me with something I thought there was no way possible to be done on time. (More posts coming soon😉🤍)

One week to reflect on how family and friends helped us on our wedding day. Key people that made our day as special as can be. We had a truly wonderful day we'll always remember due to everyone's help. Me and Josh are blessed for everyone in our lives who showed us love and support in us starting our journey together.

Hello everyone, it's Delaney!

It's only 4 days until Josh and I say "I do!"🔔

I thought it would be nice to tell the story of how Josh proposed!

We had planned a trip to Top of the Rock in Branson because we heard that was really neat with the trials cut into the bluff.

It was a smooth ride on the golf carts going over bridges and passing by waterfalls. They have little parking spots you may stop and walk around to take pictures.

I was not suspecting a single thing, just enjoying myself. I had no idea Josh was internally cataloging every single spot we stopped at with a careful eye. Plus, it was busy out on the trail that summer day. He was trying to get a spot where we were by ourselves.

We made it to the end of the trail, but there was still hope. Top of the Rock has a separate area for the lodge, church, and museum. A bus takes you up there after you get done with the trail.

Josh was really hoping he could propose inside the church, however, it was not meant to be.

When we got onto the bus, he asked the driver about the church, and he informed us that it was closed!!! Poor Josh😢

We got off the bus, walked through the lodge to look over the balcony at the church. There is an outside restaurant right next to the balcony, but luckily for Josh, it was closed too. We were all by ourselves, or so we thought.

I distracted myself, (unintentionally) by taking pictures of the church and the view. I heard Josh say my name, so I turned and he was down on one knee!! He held the ring in his hand up to me. I could barely remember to say 'yes.' I was in shock. A good shock. I had no idea he even had a ring!

Just then, we heard clapping! We whipped our heads around saw two waiters walk out from the kitchen. The lady waiter called out, "I can't believe we just missed that!" The man waiter asked if we would like a picture. And that picture is what you see here❤️

Hello everyone, it's Delaney!

Let me share the story of how I pranked called my future husband.

Backstory:

🍦Every time Josh went to get ice cream he would usually choose carmel as a topping. His step-dad would tease him about it and say something along the lines of, "Carmel will be the name of your girlfriend." And that's what gave his mom an idea.

She gave Josh's phone number to my mom, (they worked together) with a silly idea in mind.
She told my mom that she wanted me to call her son and say, "Hi, Josh this is Carmel."

Being asked to prank call a boy was....interesting. I did not call him right away, wasn't planning to....ever. In fact, it was a couple of months before I even thought of the whole thing again.

The night I called him, I was having a sleepover with a few friends. We were chatting along when my mom came in and the prank calling a boy came up. One of my friends immediately said, "I'll doooo it." I don't know what it was, but I suddenly felt a twisting knot in my stomach and I said, "No, I'll do it. He's my mom's coworker's son."

So with shaking hands, I dialed his number, (my mom had kept the sticky note all this time on her work binder😂) It rang, and rang, and rang. It had to be the last ring when he picked up, and this is how it went:

"Hello?"
"Is this Josh?"
"...yeah"
"Hiiii, Josh, this is Carmel"
"..............wait, what?! Who is this?!"
*me being panicked, not knowing what to say next*
"I'll be seeing you around sometime!"
*click* I hung up on him. Real classy, I know.

But, it worked. He texted me a couple days later and we never stopped talking!❤️

(We had the exact same phone too!)

Hello everyone, it's Delaney!

It is exactly one month from today that I will marry the man of my dreams. 💍🔔

We met in July 2014, or rather, we heard each other's voices for the first time on the phone. It was a prank call orchestrated by his mom! But, I'll post that story closer to the wedding🩷 Ever since that iconic phone call, we've always been in each other's lives.

We went to different high schools so we only got to see each other on the weekends for several years. It made our time together extra special.

For the first few years, I kept a diary of every single time we got to see each other. It's amazing to read and see the growth in our relationship, it'll forever remain a treasure of mine.

-concrete stain to match the other side (this will really tie it all together, super excited for this part!)

I (Delaney) was thrilled last weekend to celebrate my bridal shower at my family owned venue, Golden Fields!
