What’s cooler than marrying your love on a Monday at the most beautiful courthouse in the South with two dozen of your favorite people bearing witness? Add in a chic mini dress with a bevy of fabulous accessories and finish the festivities by walking over to a beloved tapas spot for dinner? Sold.

The Objective - Create a Ceremony space that looks like it magically appeared in the lakeside landscaping. A place that guests could just happen upon and take a seat among the meadows.
The Extra Credit? - Make it a Scent Memory
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’ve been here a minute (or know me IRL) then you’ve likely heard me talk about the power of scent memory. For this colorful Lake Oconee Ceremony at the bride’s family home, I knew Thai basil with its purple flowers and distinctly warm and herbaceous aroma were the way to go. But as is often the case when I want an ingredient with crazy stem length en masse, purchasing it wasn’t an option. So my amazing Mama grew all of this for me and hubs drove from Lake Oconee to Danielsville before sunrise the morning of the wedding to harvest it because vase life is short when you’re cutting the entire plant and we couldn’t risk it. Swipe to the end to see how much Thai basil went into this design. It smelled absolutely incredible and I hope this sweet couple and family are instantly taken back to this beautiful day whenever they catch a hint of Thai basil in the air.
