Intimate traditional wedding for this sweet couple with their reception . Small enough gathering for everyone to really connect but large enough for it to feel like an event. Special thanks to for bringing out the best in couples.

Happy Easter from the Morgan sisters! New Easter outfits complete with patent leather shoes just waiting to go for a ride in Aunt Carol’s convertible. And yes, the scarf over the top bun was quite a look!

Ahhhhhh, the Philippines! After getting off to a rough start with the flooding, we went north to El Nido and Matinloc island where we got our fill of sun, beautiful private beaches, some not so private kayaking, market food I was unwilling to try, snorkeling galore and more sketchy boat to land transitions. Dave even got a haircut on the beach!

Since we were in the area we got an evisa for Cambodia to spend a few days in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. When we arrive in a city we usually arrange a night food tour to get oriented and meet other travelers. Loved the crispy egg pancakes and sticky rice balls. As far as the bugs go, there were a select few I liked but I really liked the concept of mats on the ground in the market square set up for dining. And our Tuk Tuk driver’s T shirt was brilliant!
Got in a tour of the Palace where I spent a lot of time perusing the murals. Of course there was Ankor Wat!!!

Did a bit of bouncing around using Hanoi as a base. Classic photo of us on the tracks of the train street in Hanoi. Scooters transport everything and heading out of Hanoi before Tet, 90% of them were loaded with luggage since people were leaving the city to go see family.
Ninh Binh was great for doing some exploring on bicycle. We really liked SaPa up in the mountains near the Chinese border.....so cold we had to buy hats! I wore 2 pair of pants and 5 layers on top and was still cold.
Home stays are popular here but after being cold all day, to go to a rustic home where a cold shower is the best you can hope for isn’t appealing. Maybe in the summer! Back in Hanoi, we had a great visit with Chris Barnes and Hang in a lovely floral/ coffee shop. On our walks here we get occasional reminders that we are indeed in a communist country.

Our guide in SaPa is blissfully unaware of the existence of Trump and Hi**er. She did however know about the LA fires. She’s of the H’Mong ethnic group here in northern Vietnam and we’d adopt her if she wasn’t 27 and married with 2 children! In her home they do have electricity but no refrigeration. When she had her second child she was told she would need a cesarean. When she went into labor, they had to ride their scooter an hour to the nearest place a taxi could pick them up. The taxi was a no show so she ended up giving birth on the side of the road. In retrospect we may not have really needed a guide but having spent time with her we were rewarded with more knowledge about her culture.
