Selections for Friday, December 19
Race 1
5-Baby Doll Jen – Her lone tally in 36 starts this season came when she tripped out back on November 21, so a similar trip could yield something positive from a mid pack launch

3-Knives Out – Two for 37 this season, transitioned from Monticello to finishing a distant third from post seven, then had no chance from post ten, so she figures to be put in play with a better draw

7-Cutting Humor – Took advantage of the rail, left alertly, got locked in late & faded to fifth last week, with an 0 for 26 record this year she tackles a more challenging post

Race 2
6-Rock The Captain N – This Captain catapulted off a hot pace to trounce these first time Lasix, then got a severe parking ticket from post ten & has a big chance to rebound for Joe Lee

4-Marshall Zhokov – Hoosier Park claim back in mid-November has finished on edges fourth in both starts here, now fully acclimated he draws better, while sporting a bit of back class

5-Graceful Gala – 4YO mare just two for 37 this season, overmatched against $20,000 claimers @ Yonkers in her last two, yet she was on a nice roll here before that

Race 3
1-Bulvillkidunotedna – 3YO has been knocking on the door recently, she moves inside off a tough trip from post seven & we all remember what stablemate Bulvilhighonmaggie did last Thursday

2-Mo Mo – Just two for 38 this season, has landed on the fringes in both starts here, yet lands post two again while fully acclimated & has a chance to trip out in a camera-shy field

7-Always Be An Angel – Beaten favorite gave it an aggressive try in her Big M debut for a new barn & tackles post seven again with a one for 42 record

Race 4
5-Princess America – 3YO filly has caught fire for Bruce Lauer, merits the class hike fresh off a wire-to-wire 1:54.4 & finished a close second to Sunburnt before that

4-Staycation – 3YO filly only two for 30, but just missed by a head with a two-move effort before the sick scratch & draws much better, while making her second start after missing a month

6-Sunburnt – Only two for 39 this season, yet she has thrived since switching to the mile track here, comes off a no-chance trip from post ten

Race 5
4-Samsun Of A Beach – $4,000 claim @ Vernon Downs got parked in his Big M debut, then rallied stoutly from tenth/last to hit the board last week & now draws better for The Judge

6-Artist Best – Only two for 33 in 2025, yet repeatedly trip compromised recently & this 1:51 winner @ The Big M this season has a chance to launch his one big move with the right set up

9-Seize Control – Has paid the price for slow starts, particularly in his last two, flashed some decent late pace last week & now he’s a fresh claim consideration despite post nine

Race 6
3-Twin B Sunkissed – Team Burke trainee with a mark of 1:50.2 stormed home from post ten to grab the deuce at long odds two weeks ago, moves inside & might be on the verge

6-Take Your Pick – 11-time winner this season with a mark of 1:50.2 here, ships back to The Big M after almost going all the way @ Harrah’s Philadelphia & on a long form spree

4-Tennis Queen – Deserves the step up in class on a nice roll recently, rallied with a wide trip & just missed to Remy Brown last week & sets up her big late kick from post four again

Race 7
7-Le Bec Fin – One for 30 in 2025 & three for 64 lifetime, but this mare added Lasix & towered up from tenth/last to hit the board & makes her third start off a sick scratch

4-Parklane Terror – Draws much better fresh off a big wake up rally from post ten & this Big M lover lands in a prime spot to set up a stalk n pop trip in a soft MADC division

6-Hunt For Cash – One for 32 this season, however this gelding has been sharpening his sword with back-to-back on-the-board finishes & owns a mark of 1:50.4 here taken last year

Race 8
5-Outside The Fire – Looking to rebound off a late miscue @ Harrah’s Philadelphia, strong runner up against better here before that & holds a class edge for his key third start off the bench

2-Super Duper Cooper – Cooper is capping another productive campaign for Team Pollack & draws inside after hitting the board in both tries @ Harrah’s Philadelphia, while flaunting versatility

3-Sainthood – Rallied from a tough spot for the upset here two starts back, parlayed that into a dominant repeat @ Harrah’s Philadelphia & draws inside with strong number in the win column

Race 9
4-National Love AS – Sharp Saratoga shipper arrives on a form spree & fresh off a narrow loss despite being pace/trip compromised & draws well in a wide-open affair

9-Crazy Supersport – Ramping up his form in three starts on the comeback form here, slammed with post nine, but just needs the right pace/trip set up

7-Roger Rabbit – Shipped here, tried speed & just missed with an energetic effort last week, now his post is tougher, but this classy gelding has something positive to build on

Race 10
5-Dream Pillar – One for 18 this season, but she has made a couple of sharp late moves for the deuce in her last two & launches mid pack for her third try after a long layoff

2-Giovona By The Sea – Has been a new horse since her big comeback upset, equaled that mark of 1:54.4 with another sterling rally two starts back & gets class/post relief

4-Almost Karen – Added Braxten Boyd, took full advantage of a drop to the bottom TM 68 level & suddenly went all the way as the heavy favorite last week & draws well to be a repeat threat

Race 11
4-Dryden Hanover – Steady 4YO finished a distant second to a runaway favorite Tom Swifty in a solid Big M acclimating mile & draws a bit better with strong numbers on view

7-Interview Fra A – A Noel Daley-tuned horse for the course returns from a five-month layoff with a demanding post, but his two Big M qualifiers were more than adequate

6-Spending Crazy – Lightly-raced 5YO more than lived up to the heavy tote support with an easy romp in his Big M debut fresh off the bench & has license to show more

Race 12
4-Bar Keep De Vie – Two for 32 in 2025, shipped from Plainridge, grinded gamely & just missed to a well-rated favorite in a sharp Big M debut, so that logically makes him a serious player here

1-Perron – One for 28 this season & two for his last 64, but has been competitive in his last three, while acclimating here & the rail gives him a chance to employ his effective stalking style

7-Masster Blue – Finished a solid third behind Bar Keep De Vie with a smooth ride from the rail last week, now the task is tougher, while we’re looking at a two for 33 this season

Race 13
3-Going Away – 1:51.3 performer @ The Big M this season paid the price for a really slow start from post eight last week & moves inside with a keen stretch kick in her arsenal

6-Blood Moon A – Capitalized on the drop, tried speed from post ten & came up just a buck shy, now 10-time winner this season draws better & gets another shot at this reduced level

5-Tricky Wicky – 3YO filly added Braxten Boyd & perked up with a new mark of 1:52 two weeks ago, sets up her stalking game from mid pack & appears to measure up to these

Race 14
1-Sacagawea – Forced wide & faltered two weeks ago, distant runner up to a big favorite before that, tripped out to beat these back on November 6 & lands the rail to rebound

3-Rosey Time – Almost blew up the toteboard in an eye-catching Big M debut, then had zero chance from post nine again & now she’s getting class & post relief with 11 wins this season

2-Brighten Your Life – Has been hinting of an overdue win recently, just missed three starts back, shuffled third last Thursday & draws inside again to present a stalking threat

Ken's Thursday, Dec 18 Selections
Race 1
6-Pack Your Bags – Avoided a final turn breaker & rallied stoutly to just miss with a much-improved effort last Friday, might be one of the biggest closing threats in here & he’s overdue

5-Cole On The Beach – Suddenly tried speed & settled for third last Friday, 1:53.3 winner @ The Big M this season could alter tactics & stalk from midpack with the white hot Brett Beckwith

4-Stolen Art – 0 for 36 this season & one for his last 72, but I’ll give points for his solid third last Friday off a sick scratch & draws inside again

Race 2
6-Sunburnt Silverado – Shipped here into the Chris Height stable with 10 wins this season, added Lasix & finished a commendable fourth against tougher & needed that acclimating mile

2-Nice Guy Eddie – Arrived here after winning two of his last three @ Plainridge with trotting hopples added & encountered an impossible trip, draws better & knows how to win here

8-Champa Bay Hall – Was on a form spree before the recent sick scratch, got parked in the comebacker & deserves strong consideration despite a tougher post

Race 3
5-Louisa Hanover – Promising Captaintreacherous filly certainly lived up to the hype with a relentless late surge to nail She Stings & has had a couple of weeks to build momentum for Team Alagna

1-She Stings – She just missed to Louisa Hanover in Leg 1, then took no prisoners in a decisive wire-to-wire, lands the rail & sports that 1:51.4 mark @ The Red Mile

3-Abby’s Dance – After fading on the lead as the beaten favorite in Leg 1 she bounced back with a strong second to She Stings & draws inside again as a serious stalking threat

Race 4
6-Poker Play – Lived up to sudden tote support with a game grind & solid second last out & that gives him something positive to build on in a handicapper’s headscratcher

4-Hunters Gal – Her three for 40 record is a legitimate knock, but she’s been putting in some decent efforts on the edges & draws well to play stalk n pop in a wide-open field

2-Fashion Forever – One for 30 this season, yet he did hit the board back-to-back last month & has a chance to get aggressive with another inside draw

Race 5
4-Benny J – Beaten chalk gave it a good try when he stretched it out on the lead from the second tier & draws inside while revving up on the comeback trail for Team Alagna

3-Clear For Landing – Wheeled right back to repeat in dominant fashion from post nine & continues to rise off that career best from a much better post for the raging Per Engblom

7-Bourbonista S – Almost went all the way in Leg 1, then romped for a new mark of 1:54 with trot at both ends & this mare keeps surging in a positive direction for Noel Daley

Race 6
4-Big Ego – Has caught fire with two straight wins in this series, his latest a sizzling 1:52.2 career best after switching barns again & draws better with upside

6-Rider Hanover – After romping in his debut he was used pretty hard from post eight & settled for second to Big Ego as the beaten chalk & he’s got a world of potential

8-Doctor Arroganto – Moves outside, yet remains on a form spree, just missed to Big Ego as the beaten favorite in Leg 1, skipped last week & expecting a fresh blastoff

Race 7
5-Ourmomentntime – Beaten favorite left alertly, got stuffed inside, forced to check behind a fading leader & still gained third in a much-needed Per Engblom debut after a long layoff

6-Vanguard – One for 35 this season, yet he came charging out of the pocket only to get gunned down late, tougher draw, but carries good form into a wide-open affair

4-Chasing Crystals – Shifted his act to Harrah’s Philadelphia & paid off the chalk with his first win of the season & draws nicely back here for his fourth start on the comeback trail

Race 8
1-Massive Matter – Rallied to upset N/W $7,500 types @ Harrah’s Philadelphia three starts back, continues down the condition ladder & draws an improved post

6-Rock My Universe – Has a big chance to rebound off a rare early miscue, dominant winner at this level before that & owns a mark of 1:53.1 here this season

4-Aardies Peak N – Finally stayed flat & grinded gamely for the mild upset last week & lands post four again off that confidence-booster for the raging Per Engblom

Race 9
4-The Will To Play – Has absolutely jogged to three straight wins, price bumps up slightly fresh off a claim & draws inside to face a camera-shy bunch

1-Fredneck – Signaled something positive with a wide rally for second two starts back, then got parked from post nine, moves inside & long overdue

6-Ilikemebettor A – Might be gaining momentum since the October 18 sick scratch, dips in claiming price & figures to have an ample speed target to shoot at

Race 10
6-Hey Porter – 3YO has caught fire since switching to Team Pollack, fresh off a new mark of 1:52.4 with sharp trot @ both ends with Brett Beckwith & tough to go against

5-A Real Legend – Made a sharp transition from Indiana with a career best of 1:53.4 as the heavy favorite, then bumped into a sparkling Hey Porter & tries to turn the tables

3-Top Mast – Shipped from Mohawk trying to find his form, got parked chasing Hey Porter in a beneficial acclimating mile, draws inside again & has license to step up for a dangerous barn

Race 11
2-Bizy’s Beatle – Strong runner up to the streaking A Will To Play last week, gets another shot at this soft bottom claimer, draws inside again for his fourth start on the comeback trail

6-Our Corelli N – Fresh off a better result with a smooth second over trip, so maybe his form is poised to cycle forward as he dips in claiming price

1-Loorrim Lake A – Just one for 29 this season, but finally showed some signs of life with that out-of-the-blue rally for third last week & could be a stalking factor

Race 12
5-Flying Tiger – Squandered an ideal second over trip two weeks ago, was on a three-race form spree before that & that might work in a finale full of question marks

2-Colt Fourty One – Finished a more aggressive third two starts back, then had no chance from post eight & now moves inside to play a stalking game to snap a long losing skid

6-Somesurfsomewhere – One for 24 this season, has been noticeably better on the fringes in his last two & lands in a real soft spot where he could possibly make some noise

The last of 6 Thursday race cards takes place today (Dec. 18), the Exit 16W Series has impressed, bringing plenty of good, competitive action to racing fans.

This Thursday’s card is big on intrigue. And talent.

The 1st of 4 Exit 16W Pop Up Series finals takes place in race 3 when $32,500 is up for grabs in a division for 2- and 3-year-old pacing fillies.

She Stings is the 9-5 second choice from post one for the Big M’s red-hot leading driver . The 2yo is off a wire-to-wire win in 1:52.3 in the series’ final preliminary last week.

Luisa Hanover scored in her career debut in 1:53.3 2weeks ago for trainer Tony Alagna and has been installed as the 8-5 favorite for driver Jason Bartlett. The 2yo has drawn post 5 in what promises to be a great matchup.

Trotters who are winners of 2 but not more than 4 races take to the track in the fifth race for $35,000, in what appears to be a three-way battle between Clear For Landing (5-2 on the morning-line, Beckwith driving), Benny J (3-1, Bartlett) & Bourbonista S (7-2, Johnathan Ahle).

Bourbonista S won one of the 2 final-leg splits a week ago in 1:54, taking down 4-5 favorite Benny J, while Clear For Landing won the other dash in 1:54.2.

The 6th race looks like another 3-way melee when Big Ego (9-5, Braxten Boyd), Rider Hanover (2-1, Bartlett) and Doctor Arroganto (4-1, Beckwith) hook up in the $32,500 pace for 2 & 3yo colts & geldings.

Big Ego is after a 3-race series sweep after taking each of the first two legs, in 1:55.3 and 1:52.2, respectively, with the first of the 2 a head win over Doctor Arroganto. Rider Hanover was second best in the 1:52.2 mile as the 3-5 public choice.

Finally, in the trot for winners of 4 but not more than 7 races, arch-rivals A Real Legend and Hey Porter will go head-to-head in round three of their pairing.

A Real Legend (9 ), who was the winner of leg one in 1:53.4, will depart from post five, while Hey Porter (8-5, Beckwith), the winner of leg 2 in 1:52.4, has the 6 hole in the $37,500 dash. The duo were the first 2 under the wire in both races.

This weekend, there will be a different look and sound to the Big M’s live simulcast presentation.

On Thursday, Ken Warkentin will call the races as usual, but Harrah’s Philadelphia’s Mike Bozich will serve as host of the show that is seen nightly from the Sam McKee Memorial Broadcast Set. His co-host will be Tioga Downs’ Andrew “Shades” Demsky.

Peter Kleinhans, who has served as the track announcer at numerous tracks throughout his career in racing, will be on the microphone Friday night while Warkentin plays host on set with Demsky in the co-host’s seat.

Saturday will find Bozich in the spot racing regulars know him for, calling the action, while Warkentin (host) and Demsky (co-host) will once again be on the desk.

Joe Romanelli will serve in his usual capacity for all three race cards, as back paddock interviewer and handicapper/analyst on the FanDuel Television (FDTV) feed.

The Meadowlands Amateur Driving Club is making an impact this holiday season with its end-of-season charity donations.

“This year, the MADC donated over $70,000 in driver commissions to multiple charities. They range from horse retirement facilities to local food pantries and foundations for disease research that have affected families of MADC members, like the Multiple Sclerosis foundation and the Alzheimer’s foundation,” said Club President Joe Lee, emphasizing the inclusive nature of the club's charitable efforts.

“The MADC is proud to be a regular part of the Meadowlands program and takes great pride in helping both local and national charities this time of year. We can only do that because of the generosity of the Meadowlands and the public who backs us week in and week out. Because of the level of support we receive, we can pay it forward and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.”

The charities with donation amounts are:
• $7,500 Standardbred Retirement Foundation, Inc
• $7,500 New Vocation Racehorse Adoption Program
• $7,500 Purple Haze Standardbred Adoption Program Inc
• $5000 Racing for Home Inc.
• $5,000 13 Hands Equine Rescue Inc.
• $5,000 MMXX Standardbreds Inc
• $5,000 Sunshine Horses Inc
• $5,000 Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame
• $2,000 Toys for Tots

• $2,000 Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue
• $2,000 St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Inc
• $1,650 Fisher House Foundation Inc.

“We are very appreciative of the MADC. The club is a staple on our weekend cards, helping provide full fields, which in turn leads to strong wagering numbers,” stated Jason Settlemoir, Meadowlands COO/GM.

“The Club’s donations are certainly going to help make a difference in our community.”

The Meadowlands Amateur Driving Club’s board, which includes Jason Settlemoir, Scott Warren, Alex Figueras, David Glasser, Jeff Gural (Chairman), Jim Slendorn (Vice President), and Joe Lee (President), determined the selected charities.

BECKWITH’S SEVENTH HEAVEN: Meadowlands’ leading driver recorded the biggest night of the season for a pilot on a single Big M program, as the 22-year-old guided seven to victory lane, falling short of the Big M all-time record of eight by just one victory, a mark held by both Brett Miller and Mike Lachance.

Beckwith did not have a drive in the 14th and final race of the night, but had a shot at tying the all-time mark in the 13th, leading into the stretch with 9-1 outsider Belmont Major N, only to get gunned down by Diamondbeach.

Beckwith’s winners were Overthinking ($5.20 to win) in the second race; Captain Crusader A ($2.60) in the third; Fasting ($2.20) in the fourth; Momas Son Byrne ($2.80) in the sixth; Stellar Yankee ($6.40) in the seventh; Lite N Sweet ($5.60) in the 11th; and Ourmatemenko N ($4) in the 12th.

The last time a driver won seven on a card was on July 23, 2021, when Dexter Dunn turned the trick.
