If you’ve ever grown lisianthus, you know why they’re so easy to love. I often tell our brides I love them even more than roses! They have that same delicate, romantic look, but they’re surprisingly tough and can last 7–14 days in a vase.

The secret to growing them? Patience. 🌱

We plant our plugs in early spring in well-drained soil amended with compost and keep them well-fed. They’re slow growers, and we usually don’t see blooms until mid-July—but they are absolutely worth the wait.

✂️ Cutting tip: Harvest when the buds are still closed but showing good color. Cut them too early and those tight buds may not open.

Beautiful, long-lasting, and tougher than they look—lisianthus will always have a place in our cutting garden. 🤍

There’s something special about slowing down, walking through rows of flowers, choosing the stems that catch your eye, and creating something beautiful with your own hands.

Here at Flourish, our workshops are about more than learning how to arrange flowers. They’re an opportunity to step away from the everyday, spend time in the garden, learn a little about the flowers we grow, and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating.

Depending on the season, you may find yourself wandering the cutting garden, gathering fresh blooms, learning a few of my favorite floral design techniques, and creating an arrangement that is completely your own.

Come with a friend, bring a group, or simply come because you love flowers. We have several workshops coming up for the holidays where you can create a gift or something special for your home.. 🌿

🌸 I wrote a book! 🌸

What began with a love for growing flowers has turned into something I never quite imagined—a book of my own.

Backyard Cutting Garden is for anyone who has dreamed of stepping outside with a pair of snips and coming back in with an armful of flowers.

Inside, I’m sharing what I’ve learned from years of growing here at Flourish—from planning and planting a cutting garden to choosing flowers I love, harvesting them at just the right time, and turning what you grow into beautiful arrangements for your home and the people you love.

My hope is that this book feels like having a friend beside you in the garden—encouraging you, sharing what she’s learned, and reminding you that you don’t need acres of land or a perfect garden to grow something beautiful.

I’m so excited to share Backyard Cutting Garden with you. 🌿

If you’re new here, here’s a little bit of the story behind Flourish. 🌷🌿🌸

My love of flowers began long before this was a business. What started with a small cutting garden at our first home eventually grew into a roadside flower stand, floral design, weddings, workshops, and Flourish.

More than 20 years later, I’m still growing, creating, and sharing my love of flowers. And now I’ve gathered so much of what I’ve learned into my book, Backyard Cutting Garden.

Whether you’re here for locally grown flowers, floral workshops, or inspiration for your own garden, I’m so glad you’re here. 🤍🌿
