Taylor & Lex, a wedding couple of ours who have become some of my favorite people in life even though we tend to see each other only every few years, asked me to come out and photograph their family at their home as they were soon to be moving. We spent a couple hours taking pictures and laughing our heads off. And then we spent even more time just hanging on their front porch laughing together some more.
I’m starting to go through the photos today and this one just struck me. Their kids together in one of their bedrooms just being themselves for a minute….in the very first house that they knew as “home”. It won’t be their home soon. They are off to a new house and a new home. But this photo of these two just hanging together at their first home will (hopefully) strike up a memory sometime in the future of that bedroom and those books and the toys they played with together and even the smells in that room and maybe even some that they made!!
I love photographing families in their own homes bc it’s the small moments spent together as a family in the house that can make up a majority of their memories. And now Taylor & Lex’s kids can hopefully look back, many years in the future, on the photos we made this day and it will bring them right back to being together in the first place they called home.
