I shatter some flower farm visions for people when they say “It must be sooooo pretty at your farm with all those flowers in bloom!” and I respond by saying “Seeing color can induce panic because it means I’ve missed the proper harvesting window”. That’s how it is for tulips — they can be dry stored with the bulb on for later use, but only if they are harvested when they first show any sign of color, and are put into the cooler. If they look “vase ready” in the field, while they are still beautiful (nothing gonna dull that sparkle😀), their vase life will be shorter than if they are still closed at harvest. How gorgeous are these gudoshnik doubles?!?

Tax-day tulips! Pick up some sunshine for your favorite tax-preparer (even if it is you!) Tulip bunches are available on-farm pickup - 3893 Rt 202, Doylestown.

Did you know tulips continue to grow after they are cut and put into a vase? Yep - They do! Like any flower, you will want to give them a fresh cut every/other day with some fresh water for the longest vase life 🌷

This week I had to say goodbye to my sweet-and-stinky, best dog ever, Chance 💔. He was my constant companion in so much of the solitary work of flower farming and floral design, whether keeping his eye on the horizon as I harvested or napping up in my studio while I designed, he was such good company and I already miss him so much. In honor of Chance 🐶, a portion of tulip sales this month will go to Home at Last Dog Rescue, where we adopted him 16+ years ago. Please let me know if you’d like to add on an extra donation to your orders to help with the good work this rescue is doing.
