Looks can be deceiving - in order to know whether or not a zinnia is ready to harvest, ya gotta give her a wiggle! The zinnia in the first video is shaking her head “no” — she’s not ready to be cut. The one in the second video has a nice strong neck and will give you a nice long vase life.

Higher temps means bidding adieu to the anemones and ranunculus for the season. These divas received endless pampering - frost cloth on/frost cloth off/shade cloth on, even tarps when we had several days of heavy rain. Methinks they have been worth every minute of fussing! These pretties made their way into every prom bouquet and wedding this spring. Which one is your favorite?

🩷 Too bloomed to sell, too beautiful to toss! 🩷 These peonies were too blown out to include in bouquets or arrangements, but their beauty isn’t going to waste! Instead, I’m making peony jelly - a fragrant, floral way to savor the season.

I learned to can from my Mom - in a kitchen full of steamy hot jars, fruit, and so much love. Her progressing dementia is heavy on my heart these days, but I think she would smile seeing these petals turned into something sweet. Stay tuned . . .there’s a LOT of life jammed into the days and nights here, but hopefully a perfect canning day will present itself soon!

While I don’t have a giant field full of ranunculus like the one I visited in CA, I do have one full bed of these dancing beauties! It’s my first year growing butterfly ranunculus, and I couldn’t love them more! Reach out if you are ready for a bouquet!
